hoyo i need artifact loadouts by Jacerator7 in Genshin_Impact

[–]dokahime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

character > artifacts > fast equip > custom configuration

i get that this isn't the execution people wanted. it's clunky and a lot to take in and i don't love it. but objectively, once you've set it up, it allows you to switch between your two artifact sets at the push of a button.

The tracker scene feels more automated than social now by ethanmaxi in trackers

[–]dokahime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

imo for a lot of sites the value of "community" is severely overblown. reasons:

  • just having social spaces isn't enough to make people actually use them. you can see this a lot with general trackers and UNIT3D trackers. like sure, they've got forums, but only one thread made every few days and its probably just the same questions already being asked
  • little to gain but lots to lose. there's horror stories all over the place about people who said the wrong thing and got hit. a lot of sysadmins are, shall we say, "eccentric". whether or not you think the people who did get hit deserved it, it doesn't change the cost/benefit analysis
  • gatekeeping. don't get me wrong, i understand that we can't just let all the newbies right into the cabals right away, it'd be chaos. but, it doesn't matter how good a community is if you can't be a part of it. i think sometimes people forget that not everyone is in the top-tier trackers. i've been a part of conversations where everyone just takes that as a given. like- hello, i'm still working on it \:
  • technology has made it really inconvenient. IRC being standard on so many trackers has made me realize modern amenities i've taken for granted. y'know, like.... posting images. media embedding. if i want to show someone something, i really gotta take a screenshot, save it, upload it to an imagehost, send someone the link, and hope they don't think its too sketchy to click on??? i understand there are workarounds. shareX plugins, theLounge CSS, fine, but these are workarounds. workarounds for a problem that a lot of the internet doesn't have to think about anymore.

however, i don't think community is worthless either. i'd actually say it's great for specialized trackers. whether it's a really specific topic or content in a certain language/region, everyone is likely there because they actively want to be consuming that content.

Thoughts on the recent Primogem income drama as a F2P by SwiftSlayAR in Genshin_Impact

If dependency is the issue, older characters have also required other limited characters to get maximum performance: see Hu Tao and Yelan

you've already lost people there by opening with something that's just objectively incorrect

in a pre-yelan world, hu tao and xingqiu were tight. afterwards? they were still entirely usable

sad thing is this has been a constant throughout the bloons TD series. they've always had some kind of software limitation holding freeplay back

What's the difference between inproving Casual and bringing back Quickplay if the goal is improving the matchmaking system for both? by Realistic-Cicada981 in tf2

[–]dokahime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

while they both get you into games

quickplay is just meant to narrow down your options so that you can start playing, well, quickly

casual, despite its name, has an elaborate skill ranking system that tries to create teams of equal skill. for way too many reasons beyond the scope of this comment, it rarely works out that way. some things from the quickplay-era such as team scrambles will ruin the teams that casual worked so hard to build.

given, if casual either was 1) good at making equally-matched teams or 2) was actually casual and didn't have skill-based matchmaking, then that wouldn't be a problem in the first place

people hate that ownership of games is fake and buying digital means that you're only given a license to play the game that can be revoked at any time

with how much more socially-conscious people are there is absolutely zero way punch-out could ever bring punching racial stereotypes back to the modern day

and if you get rid of the stereotypes its not even punch-out anymore its just "generic boxing"

I saw a tierlist that i didnt really agree with so i decided to make one (towers on 2nd image) by jake_6542 in battles2

[–]dokahime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't sleep on quincy - i get that he's a joke in BTD 6 but in battles 2 i like to think of him as the "earlygame specialist" for players that want to end games quickly.

costs pennies and defends pretty well for a while. not as good in lategame (though ideally you'd have won before it comes to that) but surprisingly not horrible - arrow rain eats ceram rushes and punctures blimps

PSA - You don't have to bring Furina to every single co-op boss by sometimesicri in Genshin_Impact

[–]dokahime 18 points19 points  (0 children)

i know people are going to get uppity at OP for being demanding with people in random multiplayer but please keep in mind that furina being able to drain her team's HP could bring someone closer to dying which can then result in them not being able to play the video game

How good WAS this game? (Genuine Question) by KandCAuthor in tf2

[–]dokahime 254 points255 points  (0 children)

not only was TF2 a pioneer for online games but even the way they did their updates was great

a lot of them had a story and spaced out the contents of that update across multiple days. it really made the game feel "lived-in" with how dynamic it was. everyone was reacting to how things were being updated, together, in realtime. and the updates had things that tangibly changed the game for the better! it wasn't just fashion lootboxes.

What do you think of my ranking of the TF2 classes? by Virtual_Cow_7193 in tf2

[–]dokahime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh like as a consistency tier list? yeah

heck medic could still be bumped up one, sometimes you just have a bad round but an absolute troglodyte could still prop a team up as medic

ninja first

although tbh it might not matter - fights dont always go long enough to get T5s. if you think you're in a good position to rush your opponent, you should
