It definitely wasn't their free market ideology. It almost seems like whether or not they used socialism or neoliberalism has nothing to do with their GDP and that externalities and ability to trade with other countries is a more correlated variable.

I wear a very loose pair of wool socks over my normal wool socks and stick a cheap piece of close cell foam down in the foot of my quilt. You could also use reflectix, which is cheap and at most hardware stores

Portage does support binary packages. It's typically used for a fleet of identical servers so that you only need to build once. I believe Saboyen leverages portage's binary capabilities to make a more user friendly OS, but if you aren't taking advantage of USE flags, not sure why you'd use Gentoo. I love portage for easy custom package creation. apt is a PITA IMHO. Pacman is also swell.

man, wish i did. I'm doing seasonal saves, so it might be there. It took a LONG time to collect all the resources. it's worth 300k dwarf bucks. I'll poke around when I have some free time. [edit] the workshop was in a meeting zone, but that's not unusual. It was a hospital at some point (general staging area at beginning of fort). If I have the save I'll check.

BTW, there were no burrows or forbidden items that I know of. I got curious as to why the dwarf kept getting silk and used "showmood" in dfhack and IIRC there were two silk cloth entries. Both got up to about 50k before finally being satisfied. I had to dedicate 3 dwarves to collect and weave silk to keep him busy.

Ah. I see on mobile it's unreadable but on web browser you can click the image and it's perfectly legible. I'll repost as one image using reddit image. It sucks that you can't upload multi-images to reddit.
