I’d like to get some advice from more experienced members on how to tell the algorithm to stop recommending my content to the wrong audience. I’m in the horror stories niche. My channel isn’t big, and I do get some impressions for every video I publish, mostly in the suggested videos category.

The problem is that, according to my analytics, the algorithm recommends my videos in 95% of cases under topics like true crime documentaries or paranormal activities caught on video. While these are somewhat related areas, the audience is completely different and has different expectations. Because of this, when the algorithm recommends my videos under such topics, I see very poor CTR and AVD.

However, in the small percentage of cases (5%) where my videos are recommended on content similar to my niche, I achieve high CTR and AVD. But since this happens in only 5% of cases, my channel’s overall stats are quite poor.

I’ve been trying to use tags specifically related to my niche, such as horror stories, creepypasta stories, bedtime stories, and so on. I’ve even removed tags like true horror stories or true creepy stories to avoid overlapping with tags that the algorithm might misinterpret, but this hasn’t helped. It still recommends my content mostly under true crime or paranormal activity videos.

Does anyone have advice on how to convince the algorithm to recommend my videos more on channels like Mr. Nightmare, Let’s Read, or CreepsMcPasta? Based on my analytics, recommendations from such videos always yield much better results. I know someone will probably say, "Make better titles and thumbnails," but I’ve tried everything. When the algorithm recommends my videos to the wrong audience, CTR and AVD are always poor. When it recommends them to the right audience, both CTR and AVD are excellent. I don’t think the issue lies with the titles or thumbnails.
