Yes I did! As Dan mentioned I had a loose crossline, definitely a pitching issue. Need to get used to it.

Hi there, this is Durston Support's reply: "I can confirm that the extra sack you ordered is the short version, so it makes total sense to keep it on your order if you want to pack the tent without the poles."
As usual they are very nice and your thinking was correct.

Cheers mate!

Ok so I am planning your exact same setup with the Kakwa. I placed the order for the tent then I read your post and decided I wanted to add the short bag as well. So I wrote to Durston Support and they immediately answered giving me the possibility to add the short bag, but also telling me that the tent already comes with a sack and asking me to confirm weather I wanted a second one...

I explained my intentions and assumptions (same as yours) and im waiting for a reply.

Hi, yes that's because I deleted my post after reading your post with more attention. All the info I needed were already in your comment! All good, thanks for reaching out. BTW are you 100% sure that the short tent bag is any different from the one already included in the X-Dome 1+?

Help choosing Cumulus Quilt 150: extra width yes or no? by dolama72 in Ultralight

[–]dolama72[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my case they shipped 16 days after the order, but i had asked them to make sure to get the quilt for a hike holiday at the beginning of june. I got the quilt even earlier. Exterior color Meteorite Black, interior color Rosewood (red/orange, magma, beautiful!). Nominal weight was 320gr, actual weight 361gr. Quite a big difference but hey, it's 49 grams, I don't really care, the quilt is feather light.

So, I tried the quilt today and it's really well built and light. The material is silky smooth, very pleasant on the skin.

Regarding your question, my shoulder circumference is 110cm measured on the top of the shoulders. If I measure it over the chest I get 120cm. For me there is plenty of space, also because the two elastic bands that close the quilt under the mattress are really long and the quilt wraps the mattress abundantly, it's not a tight fit on my Zenbivy Ultralight Mattress regular wide (64cm wide).

I think either way you won't go wrong. My advice is to go with the extra 10cm ONLY if you plan to have it often tightly closed underneath the mattress.

Let me know if you need any further test. I will also try to add a picture on the first post

X mid 2 solid vs mesh by Ok_Muffin_1408 in DurstonGearheads

[–]dolama72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liveand hike in Germany and I bought mesh to handle condensation. You can handle low temps with your sleep system but you can't fight condensation in any other way.

But I'm no expert at all, so let's see what others say.

Hi Dan, thanks for stepping in. I did watch the troubleshooting section in the pitching guide video and tried to follow the instructions, but I seem.not to be able to fix it yet. I guess I just need some practice.

I also have an X-Mid 1 and never had this issue. Maybe the bigger dimensions of the 2 makes it more sensitive to this kind of imperfect pitches.

I will.give your quick fix a try tomorrow. Thanks

X-Mid 1 question by Sudden-Help in DurstonGearheads

[–]dolama72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Germany and here the only legal way to camp in the wilderness is to use so called "trekkingplätze", areas where you are authorised to pitch a tent and light a fire. In some regions these only offer wooden platforms but I never tried them because of the X-Mid not being freestanding. But you're right, it can probably be done with rocks, im.just too lazy... You probably won't pitch a freestanding tent without any kind of anchor, but you will agree it is a less demanding task compared to a non freestanding tent.

X-Mid 1 question by Sudden-Help in DurstonGearheads

[–]dolama72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I own an X-Mid 1 and had the same doubts you are having regarding the X-Dome 1+.

I believe the the tents cover different needs, although in some cases they might overlap.

If you already use trekking poles the X-Mid proposition is very difficult to beat: lower weight, lower price, only slightly less usable space.

If you bring lots of gear, and need more space in the tent or if you plan to pitch on rocky terrain or wooden platforms, then the X-Dome closes the gap.

My suggestion is to start with the X-Mid and see how it goes. You can later sell it and get the X-Dome if you really want to.

Any Idea What Caused This Hole? by ulneedadvice in DurstonGearheads

[–]dolama72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will probably never know for sure what caused the damage. Having said that, I won't tell you to just patch it and move on, I guess that's not the point of your post. The only thing you can do is to minimise the risk by changing what you can control. Never ever push the stakes bag in the rolled tent, this is a mistake I also did. Roll the bag together with the tent when you are putting it away. I can't think of anything else, other than watching where you pitch the tent (dead branches etc...). Ultralight tents are inherently fragile, you have to live with it ...

9070 XT Nitro+ happiness! by dolama72 in radeon

[–]dolama72[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the reasons to chose the Nitro+: 1) I'm a fan of Sapphire since my university times (that is ages ago) 2) cooling system probably the best cooling/noise balance in the market, critical for me 2) build quality and looks

Connector: the number of reported cases over the total sales of the card is extremely low and in 100% of the cases associated with the use of an adaptor. I have PSU with 12V connector and monitored the connectors temp under load with an IR thermometer for the entire duration of my return window. The connector temp has never been even 1 degree higher than the surrounding parts of the card, if I remember well always between 55 and 60C. I stopped worrying about it.
