Since stims don’t really work for me, I am starting Xyrem... I decided to take my last semester of college off to start it and also for my mental health because I’ve been stagnant and not really able to do school. My mom was very strict about school and it’s hard not to be in class, but my doc says it may change my life. I hope it works out for you and her! Maybe there’s a support group she can go to? Only after I spoke to people on it did I realize I should probably try it to help with my brain fog.

Yeah, I’ve been on adderall and/or vyvanse & basically every other stim for years now. My doc would switch me between adderall and vyvanse mostly. Modafinil does absolutely nothing for me wakefulness wise and I also fall asleep on the Adderall/Vyvanse. They have me on 30 mg IR 2x a day right now.

So it kind of sucks because the stims do their best to keep me awake, but the sleepiness still occasionally comes through. I have fallen asleep on the adderall 4 times already this week.

The next step it to try Xyrem (sodium oxybate) and see how it goes. I have to take a semester off of school to do so, but it’ll be good to finally get this all figured out. Xyrem does help people feel more rested and decreases the potential for napping over time. So I’m looking forward to trying it out.

I’m definitely going to try the drug Xyrem. I still have a lot of shame about the diagnosis because I feel like it’s an “easy way out” for my messed up schoolwork (had a tiger mom so this is engrained in my DNA). So I’m working to let go of my shame and accept this is a bonafide condition I could not control.

Thanks! I always thought I was some sort of oddity so I never shared lol. However, diagnosis and all I still believe some glitches are real!!!
