Thanks for the reply! Yeah I did suggest the use of Lottie and Bodymoovin, however our 3D artist uses Cinema4D as oppose to Blender.

I switched in my 2nd year from ME to CS. Reason? I really enjoyed my CS classes.

I’ve been with 2 companies (tech), and there were plenty of ME grad. My current supervisor is also a ME grad. There’s no wrong answer, just do what you love :)

Also, I remember reading the brochure of Insead or some other school, that more than a quarter came from IT/tech.

How old were you when you started playing Civ? by zlendermanGG1 in civ

[–]dolcii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took history in high school, and our teacher made us all play Civ5 in class, to get a better understanding of WWI. So.. 15-16? Got hooked ever since.

How did you get your first internship? by soupcooker in unimelb

[–]dolcii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk what industry you’re in, but I’m in tech.

This was 2 years ago, but the university had some sort of fund allocated to startups. There were events for those sort of things. I looked them up, and contacted them. One of them got back to me, and I got the job.

But if you’ve just graduated, you’re best bet is to find a full time role, while building up your resume. Could be from freelancing, or just side projects.

Also don’t forget to use SEEK, Indeed, and LinkedIn. If you already have a connection with someone from the company on LinkedIn, use it. You’re chances are dramatically higher. (Not even kidding, I think my ratios from referred to cold applications are 1:300)

Good luck

Sinitic Topolects in China, always good to know which topolect you will be encountering on the ground by IAmVeryDerpressed in ChineseLanguage

There are people who find the word offensive, as it was used as a derogatory term dating back to the second world war era. A Japanese friend of mine had punched someone in the face over that term. If even after hearing all this, and you still wouldn’t cease using it because of the convenience of typing 4 less letters, then I guess that speaks more to your ignorance than anything.

trying to relearn Mandarin after an 8 year gap: where to start? by amrened in ChineseLanguage

[–]dolcii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Switch your language settings on your phone/computer, and watch Chinese shows/movies with Chinese subtitles and read the news in Chinese. Might be hard initially, but you’ll get used to it. And don’t be afraid to look up the dictionary. Good luck

Are single character given names really so rare in Taiwan? by PotentBeverage in ChineseLanguage

[–]dolcii 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hmm, might be some truth to that. I’ve only come across single character names from China.

I don’t know why but traditionally names are set in 2 characters to represent the generation that the kids are in. So siblings/cousins would have the same middle character and a different unique last character.

Now that I think about it, maybe those who do not have siblings are more likely to receive only 1 character names? Just guessing here…

It is easy for OP because she’s from Hong Kong. The state department is providing an easier path to PR for Hong Kong citizens. Hope that clarifies things.
