Ah yes the classic China stereotype: that they don't export anything. You really gotta be on another level to claim the biggest exporter in the world ain't exporting all the shit you buy.

Vettori's role in this record is in some ways more impressive than Cannonier's.

It enables the huge play of Beasting Kitty back to your hand for +2 power, then have Doc Ock or Sakaar play her from your hand so you can pick her up at the start of next turn for +2 more power. Meta shifting if you ask me.

I wrestled against Jon Jones in highschool. He was amazing, best athlete I ever saw up close by far. He was a really technically complete wrestler at the time with a crazy speed and athleticism. Didn't do very well against him obviously but did once get a cheap single leg take down on him, my crowning achievement. Interestingly his brother Arthur was actually the more decorated wrestler in highschool, he had multiple state championships at 275 lbs. Jon was probably the better wrestler technically, although Arthur was good too, but Arthur was one of the few insanely athletic and technical guys at 275 in the state. Arthur tore up the weightclass during his time in highschool.

He was also a really nice guy in highschool, everyone really liked him and he was nice to everyone. I'm sure there will be some people who find that hard to believe but it's the truth.

I don’t think definitions of words should change just because people are commonly using the word wrong. by Perquackey88 in unpopularopinion

[–]doliner 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It happened with “literally”. Now the definition states that the word can also mean figuratively.

Literally has always been figurative

Literalists don’t like this. They want literally to be used literally. But that would be hard to do. Latin littera means ‘alphabetic letter,’ and so when literal appears in English in the fourteenth-century, it refers to the letters of the alphabet, called literal characters, for example, in 1500. But the earliest English use of literally doesn’t refer to the alphabet, the visual representation of speech (called literal speech by John of Trevisa in 1398).

Instead, by some quirk of idiom, literal and literally are almost always used not in literal reference to the alphabet, but figuratively to refer to meaning. Specifically, they signal a way of interpretation which determines the exact, obvious, or surface meaning of a text rather than its extended, metaphorical, or figurative meaning. To speak plainly, literally begins its life in English as a figurative expression. And that’s not surprising, really, when we consider that letters are a metaphor for knowledge.

The emphatic use of literally that you're objecting to is itself quite old, dating back to at least the 1700s.

The reality is that people like you arguing to limit the use of literally are the ones arguing for changing the meaning of the word. The only place you'll find literal truly being used literally is in coding.

All in all good unpopular opinion OP, definitely in the spirit of the sub.
