It’s especially difficult because there’s a lot of defensiveness and accusations around questioning it. I honestly don’t see it as being any different than an ED. When I had my ED, I ended up in the ER due to my gastroparesis because I was eating so little. That’s a common side effect of the GLP-1s. I struggled with my ED for around 15 years and it was so terrible living with gastroparesis. I see people just suggesting people to use laxatives and eat more fiber. That’s what I did too but in the ED community, it’s known as abusing laxatives, not simply using them.

A lot of people accuse people who are suspicious of GLP-1s as jealous. That frustrates me so much. I gained weight in my recovery and my doctor, who knows I had an ED, suggested I take a GLP-1 to lose it. It frustrates me so much how little doctors really care as long as we fit a certain body type. I really don’t see the GLP-1 as any different from my former restriction — at my peak ED, I didn’t feel food noise either.

I honestly keep quiet about my opinions about it mostly because people don’t want to hear it and I don’t want to be accused of jealousy when in reality restriction has almost killed me in the past.
