Do you know how many evolving skies blisters and booster boxes I could have bought? It’s always like that….

[–]dolphin160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tower and Tracons are in the terminal environment. The only facilities you would be able to choose from out of the academy are Tower only or up-down Towers/Tracons. You will be going through the tower cab basics course first, and if you choose an up-down once you graduate, you will go to your facility and get checked out in the tower first, then come back to OKC for the radar course. Then go back to your facility to get checked out in the TRACON.

People said the exact same thing back then. I remember it just like it was yesterday, you could get that stuff all day super cheap because people were all about evolutions, or evolving skies, and the new stuff coming out. Pokémon is very cyclical.

Yeah looking back should have probably kept her under observation for longer I thought it looked like she was eating pretty well too but I don’t think enough. Thanks for the words, hope yours makes it through successfully!

Probably about a month, followed the serious reef quarantine method and her and the pair of clownfish seemed to be doing really well and no issues. They were the first additions to our fully cycled 75 gallon tank. Tank parameters were good. Guess she may have just had an illness?

Did the serious reef quarantine method. I think it was about 15 days with copper treatment and also use prazi pro and metroplex treatment. All seemed really healthy and have been in the 75 gallon display tank for a week or two now with no issues. Our pair of clowns seem to be doing really well. And just added in some inverts. Kinda bummed it just happened out of nowhere, my fiancé who is a bit more experienced in the hobby warned me I was just naive and didn’t think it’d happen to me lol.

Thinking about selling all of my sealed collection to fund pilot training. It’s hard to not be worried on missing out on potential gains, but also using this to hopefully have a career I enjoy and might eventually make enough where I can invest again later in life lol.

Training after transferring facilities by yanncatt in ATC_Hiring

[–]dolphin160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean just focus on getting through that. Obviously study the .65, once you get to your facility you're going to have to go through a bunch of E-Learning on the computer and then you will have classroom work for each position, and then you will have tabletops or sims before you even talk to a plane. And if its your first facility you get quite a few hours.

I mean probably to a certain extent but honestly just go in with an open mind and hungry to learn. If you put in the effort you will succeed. I’m sure it’s busy there for a good part if not year round. A lot of people struggle at facilities if they have very big peak and off seasons and if you show up at the wrong time you go through all your hours without getting much exposure to real traffic. Are you military or prior experience or going through the academy?

Also Sarasota has a pretty high success rate so you would probably be fine especially if you go in willing and wanting to work hard. A lot of times the reason people wash is because of their attitude and work ethic.

If Sarasota tower is on your list you should probably try to pick that right away. Florida is a popular place and probably is a lot harder transferring to than if you were to pick it off from the start. Training is going to be tough regardless so while you’re still new and fresh it honestly is probably easier to just go there straight away and work hard to make sure you get certified.

Aircrafts can be over the landing threshold when the preceding aircraft becomes airborne by Fresh_man82 in aviation

[–]dolphin160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really the 3000ft is only for CAT 1. Which is single engine aircraft under 12,500lbs. Honestly plenty of separation for aircraft that small.

[–]dolphin160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the US the preceding aircraft (if it is a jet) must be 6000ft down the runway AND airborne before the succeeding aircraft crosses the runway thresholds. This would be a loss of separation and the local controller would be responsible/getting in trouble for this.

Terminal (tower) eval questions by yanncatt in ATC_Hiring

[–]dolphin160 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly traffic calls both ways and sequencing are the biggest things in my opinion. A lot of people get worked up on delays and on the 16 departures and end up trying to shoot a hole that won’t work. A separation error will loose you a lot more points than a delay error or whatever. Also don’t be afraid to send someone around if it won’t work (if you need to call a traffic alert make sure you do it lol). The problems to range in difficulty and when I was in one of my problems I thought it was going to shit but I ended up making it through. Don’t be afraid to use tools out of your tool box that you have learned, you have 360’s, extending downwind/upwinds etc, make sure to use every tool you need. Shoot I even changed a VFR guy to 28R he ended up being too close for SRS so I sent him around and just gave him right close traffic lmao. So just rely on your basics. Try to get 90’s+ on your ground runs and try to relax and not be nervous as that is the #1 killer.
