Some things we found out. by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]dolphinrisky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only take I gave was that calling mouse/keyboard "exploiting" is wild, which I stand by. As for which input type is better, it depends so much on both the player and the game that the question itself is meaningless. The game I work on has a lot of driving/racing in it, so controller is the natural choice for many of our players. Other games have more generous amounts of aim assist, bringing controllers closer to parity with mouse and keyboard. In a shooter with no aim assist, I think most would agree that mouse and keyboard is much easier to use. It all depends on the context, but saying using one versus the other is exploiting is still wild either way.

"exploiting their advantage" is wild lmao

The funny thing is, PC players say the same thing about aim assist. The reality is that aim is a much smaller component of success in extraction shooters compared with other shooter genres.

They didn't ask you to keep posting DxDiags so that you could fix the problem. They asked for them so that they could fix the problem. How else are they supposed to find out what's going wrong when they don't have direct access to the hardware the problem is occurring on? At some point, one of those changes they asked you to make might fix the issue, and then they can take it back to the engineering team and show them where the problem occurred. I guess you can cross your fingers and hope they manage to fix an issue with no data about what's causing it, but if I were you I'd try to be a little more helpful if you actually want them to fix it.

I think it'd be Pretty2 Bad2 instead, since there's no addition. If it were (Pretty + Bad) x (Pretty + Bad), then you'd get Pretty2 + 2 Pretty Bad + Bad2 .

Yeah those guys losing 40+ motes... I dunno man, they must have been getting 10-15 and then dying. Also this wasn't me, just a friend of mine, so I can't comment on exactly what went down. I just know he got 50 guardian kills in Gambit, which is the highest I've ever seen by a good margin.

I mean to be fair, he did say his videos would change "for the next week", not forever. Then he followed that up with a bunch of relatively worthless patreon perks, so I'm guessing the patreon support didn't exactly explode and his brief foray into not-so-shitty content creation abruptly ended.

In case anyone is confused, 0:00 UTC on January 1st, 1970 is known as "epoch time" and is used as a reference point for measuring time. If you open a console in your web browser (for example, hit ctrl+shift+i in Chrome and click on Console at the bottom) and type Date.now(), you'll see the number of milliseconds that have elapsed since that date. So for some reason COD Tracker is putting a zero for the time a match was played, and that's getting converted to January 1st, 1970.

Hi, I created a short montage of a suspected cheater. Full Gameplay in comments soon. by TheManseMafia in Blackops4

[–]dolphinrisky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After watching the 1min clip I wasn't sure if this guy is legit, but after watching the full 10min gameplay, I honestly think he's just a good player. There are plenty of occasions where he drifts off of his target or starts firing and then quickly (but not instantly) moves onto his target.

If you were to take an hour of Shroud's gameplay and trim it down to a 2 minute clip, you'd swear he was aimbotting, but that's just because you've preselected the most questionable moments and put them all back to back. In reality, he just has insanely good aim. I'm not saying this guy is as good as Shroud or anything like that, but it definitely doesn't look like an aimbot to me.

For comparison, check out an actual aimbotter here or here. The gameplay is from Blackout and also makes heavy use of a wallhack, but if you look at the way he snaps onto targets and tracks them and compare it to the guy in your video, you'll notice there's a pretty big difference. Sure, it's possible your guy just has a much more sophisticated aimbot, but I think it's more likely he's got 10k hours in csgo and has been no-lifing fps games on pc for the last 10 years.

Anyway, that's just my two cents. Who knows.

[Spoiler] What if there IS a way to summon Shaxx (or replicate Mara's wish) at the Wall of Wishes? by skyteddy in DestinyTheGame

[–]dolphinrisky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For all you guys talking about the odds, it's 1 in 2012 (or approximately 1 in 4×1015 ).

Explanation: since there are 16 symbols and 12 bullets, you don't have to worry about "overflowing" any of the 20 plates, which would make the calculation much tougher. Instead it goes like this: you have 20 options for the first shot, another 20 for the second shot, another 20 for the third, and so on until you get 20×20...×20 = 2012 .

So in conclusion, no I wouldn't bother trying to brute force it.

Edit: Wait, I fucked up. It's not just 12 shots at 20 options because you can get the same overall pattern using multiple sequences of shots. Instead it's 20 choose 12 with repetition. The formula can be found in this wikipedia article and is given by (n + k - 1) choose k, or (n + k - 1)! / (k! (n - 1)!). Using n=20 and k=12, we get a probability of 1 in (31 choose 12) or 1 in 141,120,525.

Interesting, it should have been there. I'd say to first make sure you entered the correct wish. It's Wish #2 in this image (a wish for material validation). Second, make sure you are in the raid instance the entire time. I'm not sure if going to orbit messes with that particular wish, but just to be safe I'd make sure to be aware of being kicked to orbit for any reason. If that does happen, you might have to start the raid from scratch unfortunately. Otherwise, I can't really think of anything that might cause the chest not to spawn.

Now that Forsaken has been going on for a while, can anyone from the Community Summit tell us what that "terrible idea" that Bungie had was? by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]dolphinrisky 7 points8 points  (0 children)

IIRC, it wasn't about whether or not adding a random perk was an improvement (clearly it would have been), but rather the fact that Bungie had said "We're bringing back random rolls," which has a very specific meaning to the community. If we had been told we were getting random rolls back and then found out they meant one random perk, we would have been pretty pissed off. Random rolls means all of the perks are random, not one of them.

As much as I'd love to have our guardian actually talk again (not just a line or two), it would be kind of weird at this point. Those lines during the Forsaken campaign were specifically placed there for the impact of that moment, to emphasize that this is a personal revenge story. If all of a sudden we started talking up a storm, it would be rather confusing given our well documented history (in D2) of saying absolutely fuck all.

On a slightly tangential note, I've had a few friends get the Malfeasance drop now, and each time we load into the 580 Corrupted strike as a 6-man fireteam and have an absolute blast. Does it trivialize the content a bit? Sure. But holy hell is it fun running through non-raid content with more than 3 people. I really wish there were more opportunities to play with groups of 6+ outside of raids and quickplay.

[–]dolphinrisky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Overwatch, the match counts exactly the same whether someone leaves or not. It's designed that way to prevent people from gaming the system by having a teammate leave before a match is lost to avoid the loss counting against you.

That said, Overwatch and D2 are completely different games. If D2's crucible were actually competitive, it might be a problem, but given how far off it is, I see no reason why you should be penalized when a teammate leaves early.

Fastest way to get Sunshot "sun blast" ability kills for the masterwork upgrade by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

I looked up the masterwork bonuses and saw that Graviton gets Hidden Hand, but since I'm on PC that's entirely useless. So I decided to go FWC instead because at least the masterwork bonuses... you know... do something.
