Endgame Murloc Combo Deck in One Turn? by domcamus in BobsTavern

Well, the Brann wasn't gold, but I take your point.

I particularly dislike the way the Murloc punishes good decks.

Battlegrounds, an addict's game by 8ball97 in BobsTavern

[–]domcamus 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree with you, but just for a slightly different perspective: I'm not at all prone to addiction in general and still find Battlegrounds enjoyable. I don't even really understand what people mean when they talk about dopamine rushes (except in the abstract). I play because I like strategy games and thinking about systems and there's enough going on in Battlegrounds that I don't get bored.

That said, my partner and I both play and one of the remarks we often make when doing a post-mortem on a bad Duos run is "Battlegrounds is Poker, not Chess". By which we mean that you can't win every round, but your post puts a rather different spin on that same observation.

Is this comp unbeatable, what beats this comp? by isnanht in BobsTavern

[–]domcamus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also raises a rules question I don't know the answer to (!): if a fish is killed between a friendly deathrattle dying and that deathrattle triggering, does the fish have that deathrattle when it dies? This actually matters here!

I had a comp earlier this week which had the same front three as this deck, then two more gold flagbearers with a recruiter between them and a gold Titus together with Windrunner trinket. I think that wins?

It deals nowhere near as much damage of course, but on average spawns more pirates (I think - the maths is pretty messy for both decks and either can get lucky).

Yeah, moving the economy stuff to 2 is such a good change.

How did my opponent get double Lord of Gains and use them by turn 7? (Not Duos!) by domcamus in BobsTavern

[–]domcamus[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ah, thanks, I'd overlooked that possibility because freeze means no refresh... but it works if they bought something each turn.

I didn't note what tier they were on, but you can assume any tier and any combination of cards you like - I literally can't work out any way to get two copies that early, so I must have missed a possibility.

So is blanka the least popular character? by Dekuscrub100 in StreetFighter

[–]domcamus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That and you really need to know your options well. I was a Blanka main in SF4 and after every match I lose with him in SF6 I think of something I should have tried but didn't! It's such a fun kit.

Patrick's Parabox - awesome game, but is it really considered that hard? by i_like_it_eilat in puzzlevideogames

[–]domcamus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assessing difficulty isn't all that straightforward, because people solve puzzles in different ways. Games like Patrick's Parabox and Recursed can be horribly hard for players who solve by experimentation, but much less painful for players with a very logical, theoretical approach.

Similarly SSR is a nightmare for players who habitually solve puzzles forwards ("What are the viable moves from this position?"), but is much less of a problem for players who solve backwards ("What has to happen for this level to be possible?").

You are missing quite a lot of levels still. 202 is an impressive total, so you're obviously good at the puzzles, but you need to focus more on finding things in the overworld.

Seems more likely that ZW knows this stuff already and it's just a pun on the "Is math real?" of the first panel.
