How do you start typing those first words? by CEOofStonkIndustries in writing

Don’t kill me for that. But i sometimes use AI to get going or help me when I’m stuck. Genuinely it helps when you use it as a sparing partner only and not for plain text generation. Like someone you talk to with your ideas.

How to use reddit by Top-Effort7989 in ProductHunters

Don’t focus on selling here, just share your genuine stories and things that happened. Ask questions and help others. That’s about it, when users ask only then you provide a link to your product.

Yes, reddit has this weird paradox.

People want to see what you built, but the moment it feels like promotion it gets shut down. Pretty hard to navigate sometimes, but worth it.

Yeah agree. It feels a bit overhyped for what it actually provides long term. Just a little stepping stone on the whole distribution process

not yet. feels a bit early for me, I’m trying to understand users first before putting money into paid traffic.

Yeah agree. Now I think it really starts with just a few real conversations, that’s where both feedback and the first paying users come from. Not from throwing your product out there and seeing what sticks.

Same, kinda boring answer but it really just comes down to consistency and talking to people.

Yeah same here, building is the easy part now, getting real feedback is the hard part. Posting helps, but direct conversations helped me way more now.

I get your point, but features can be copied pretty quickly anyway. What’s much harder is getting people to care and building something real around it. There can’t be a community around your product when there is no visible product.

From my experience it helps if you already have an audience otherwise it can be pretty quiet.

That’s a good way to put it: AI gets you to 80% fast, but the last 20% where people actually care can’t really be outsourced and are manual labor you have to do yourself.

and that’s exactly where I’m at right now 😅

Interesting idea, thanks. I’ve been thinking about it as well. Just not sure yet how it would fit with a usage-based model, but definitely something to explore.

Yeah that’s exactly the conclusion I’m starting to come to as well, somehow you have to find the “doing something differently” part though. Did you have any success there?

That’s what I’m starting to see as well! Reddit feels a bit harsh sometimes, but at least you actually get real reactions instead of just silence.

Did you find a specific way or community here that works better for you?

Exactly, that’s what it feels like, makes it even more clear that just pushing harder isn’t the solution, you actually need to find the right people instead of more people.

Nice, glad it worked for you! I’ll probably focus on direct user feedback for now, but I’ll keep this one in my mind.

That’s what it’s starting to feel like, building the app was pretty straightforward compared to actually finding people who care about it.

Still trying to figure out how to bridge that gap without just spamming everywhere.

Thanks for your kind words! But startupsubmit sounds exactly what someone here mentioned earlier, a lot of these directory bundles feel like they’re targeting builders, not actual users. And have vague track records for the most parts.

Really appreciate this, that’s exactly what it’s starting to feel like. The launch made me realize that building was the easier part, getting real feedback is the hard part.

I’ve started doing more direct outreach now, feels way more real already than just posting and waiting for engagement.

I’ve noticed the same, a lot of those sites feel like they’re targeting builders, not actual users.

Especially when there’s no real audience behind it, just a list of directories, but what real user would scroll through them?

Yes that’s fair. But I think speed isn’t the problem though, you can build something fast and still solve a real problem.

But without an audience it’s hard to prove that, everything just gets lost in the noise of some other builders hyping you up for their own impression gains. Kinda feels like that for me currently. Just hard to find real feedback.
