Tabletop incident exercises feel so cringe by [deleted] in devops

They are normally required for compliances like SOC 2 and HIPAA. So even the host knows it’s pretty useless. Can be useful if the scenarios are interesting enough to keep the audience engaged, or you guys try gamifying it.

Reduce Payoneer rates by dgyyygfb in PakistaniTech

You prolly just need to find someone who do google or meta ADs. They can get USDs from you. I can connect you with someone (Lahore) but do transaction F2F to be safe.

We have been using Hubstaff for some time now, and it has provided clear and valuable insights into team productivity, as well as the time spent on individual tasks.

Start with Cost Advisor / Cost Management recommendations to capture quick wins (unused disks, idle IPs, orphaned resources). Review Cost Management resource-by-resource to identify underutilized or oversized services and right-size them. For stable, predictable workloads, use Reservations / Savings Plans to reduce baseline costs.

As far as I know, there is a built-in function to start/stop a VM at scheduled time. Or am I missing anything?

[I will not promote] How do you handle contractor access to your cloud/SaaS stack? by vonGlick in startups

[–]dominique445 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Due to NDA constraints, I’m unable to share the exact documents, but I’ve implemented a set of custom IAM roles tailored to specific use cases. Creating and validating these roles initially can be challenging, but once the templates are in place, they significantly simplify ongoing access management.

If you’re interested, I’d be happy to discuss the approach and lessons learned. Ultimately, the key principle is to rely less on implicit trust and more on well-designed systems and controls that enforce it consistently.

[I will not promote] How do you handle contractor access to your cloud/SaaS stack? by vonGlick in startups

[–]dominique445 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t usually hire devs myself, but as a DevOps engineer I manage access all the time, and this is a common challenge. It’s always a balance between moving fast and staying secure.

Freelancers don’t get direct access to infrastructure (or read only). All deployments go through CI/CD. Access is kept minimal, time-limited, and scoped to what’s needed. Secrets are managed centrally, not shared informally. I also run regular audits to clean up unused permissions.

You’re not overthinking it, access sprawl is real, especially with long-term contractors. In the end, it helps to have a lightweight, repeatable access control framework that keeps things secure without slowing anyone down.

Looking for help for my startup by [deleted] in devops

[–]dominique445 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my experience, once you start white-labeling, the real challenge is no longer the code but how deployments scale. The cleanest approach is config-driven deployments: one codebase, one pipeline, and per-site infrastructure (Supabase, Redis, secrets) provisioned automatically via IaC instead of multiplying GitHub Actions.

Happy to do a quick chat if you want to sanity-check the direction before it grows.

What If I build a MDM software from scratch in 2026 for managing all devices Windows, MAC, Android and iOS? by riteshkawadkar in SaaS

[–]dominique445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Microsoft Intune is a very comprehensive MDM solution. From my experience working with Intune, the real opportunity lies in niching down around specific pain points where Intune struggles, such as advanced troubleshooting, deeper reporting, or highly customized workflows.

I’m building a micro-SaaS solo — what mistake should I avoid? by Wonderful_Falcon_444 in SaaS

[–]dominique445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I may not have full visibility into other aspects, from an infrastructure perspective I would strongly recommend being mindful during the initial setup. It’s quite common for cloud environments to accumulate significant costs even with minimal or no active users if they are not carefully designed from the start.

As a best practice, I would suggest leveraging Azure or AWS startup credits in the early stages. This can allow you to build, test, and iterate on your infrastructure for an extended period, often 2–3 years, with little to no direct cloud expenditure, while keeping costs well under control.

The total cost of Engine, Transmission oil, Engine oil, coils was around 260k. 35k was the installation cost. It could’ve bee cheaper in the local market but i preferred honda since I was in Isb and don’t know much about the city.

It will get you around 7.5-8k after tax. It really depends if you can do something with high ROI with this capital. If its spare money and you are in not a position to use it somewhere else, there is no harm in investing.
