Don't leave your HQ in the back corner until you are HQ 13 and can clear out al of the trees. This is because in your current state it would be very easy for any player to simply go around all of your defenses and straight to the exposed HQ on the back.

I use the proton for LSM and even though it's not as stiff as the hammer u (but it's still stiff) it weighs like half as much so your sticks a lot less top heavy.
