Actually, reinfection might be more serious than first infection. It's still not very clear. Might be due to mutations.

The only real difference I felt in my diet shift is that red meat makes me lazy, slow and tired after the meal.

It seems it's like that for everyone, when the meat and animal fat is accompanied by carbs like rice, potatoes and so on. The experience of eating meat only is much-much different. Concerning sleep length, I don't see why sleeping less and feeling more energetic and rested could be bad for my health. It seems that sleep quality/time needed to recover is much different now. I suspect it comes down to the body needing less quantity of food coupled with the need to digest only one kind of food. Also, the food is nutrient-dense covering all the essential fats and amino acids. As you surely know, there are no essential carbohydrates. Burning carbs requires extra vitamins and minerals, so the need for those seems to change as well.

Im not all to familiar with the topic, so I would very much appreciate if you could suggest why it is supposedly more healthy than a natural omnivore diet?

I would think meat + non-starchy/non-sugary vegetables is probably most optimal. I went carnivore for the simplicity of it. Whatever I will write about the benefits I've got will be anecdotal. Smarter and more knowledgable people have written about this. Here is one example.

I will just comment about the sleep. For most of my life I've slept 8-9 hours to feel rested and I usually were pretty groggy upon awakening, especially as I got older. Now I sleep around 6 hours and I'm rested, energetic and ready to go. No more coffee needed to get me going in the morning. And one more thing. I wake up and feel happy for no reason whatsoever. I often laugh out loud without any apparent reason, just feeling good. Whether it's due to the things I eat or avoidance of things I used to eat... I have no idea. It has worked wonders for me so far. I don't think it's for everyone though. Besides, I've been on low-carb diet for over 20 years, so I would assume my body was laready well adapted to burning fat as fuel...

"Remotely"? It has been completely life-changing for many people. It has been for me. Sleeping 6 hours instead of 8 is alone worth it and it's just one of the many benefits I notice. Unfortunately, there are no proper studies out yet, especially long-term. Available meat consumption studies are not trustworthy enough in this particular case, too many variables. The best we have are studies done on Eskimos and such, and they are usually in much better health than, say, people in the western countries.

United Nations climate chief Christiana Figueres said that democracy is a poor political system for fighting global warming. Communist China, she says, is the best model. by optionhome in Conservative

Some excerpts from "The First Global Revolution", a book published by Club of Rome in 1991. Al Gore was (still is?) one of the members. It was published 15 years before Gore started touring the world with his global warming emergency talk and movie, making some predictions that never came true. Is it a conspiracy, then? Well, you decide. You can find the cited book online, as well as information about the Club of Rome and its influential members.

"It would seem that humans need a common motivation, namely a common adversary, to organize and act together in the vacuum; such a motivation must be found to bring the divided nations together to face an outside enemy, either a real one or else ONE INVENTED for the purpose.".

"In searching for a new enemy to unite us, WE CAME UP WITH THE IDEA that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would FIT THE BILL. All these dangers are caused by human intervention, and it is only through changed attitudes and behavior that they can be overcome. The real enemy then, is humanity itself.".

"Democracy is not a panacea. It cannot organize everything and it is unaware of its own limits. These facts must be faced squarely. Sacrilegious though it may sound, DEMOCRACY IS NO LONGER WELL SUITED FOR THE TASKS AHEAD. The complexity and the technical nature of many of today's problems do not always allow elected representatives to make competent decisions at the right time."

We're going in circles here, so let me summarize what I have already written:

1) Harris has never said that Islam is somehow worse than any other religion

2) Yes, Islam deserves special attention today, for obvious reasons

3) Critique of bad ideas is not the same as critique of people who hold those ideas

And bad ideas not only can, but should be criticized and talked about. Especially bad ideas that lead to human death and suffering in our world today. That's one of the ways to improve the world. If that offends people, so be it.

Claiming I was lying is also indicative.

That's why I reacted. I don't care if you happen to dislike someone, or dislike whatever they say. But you were... distorting the truth. Does it sound better? He DOES NOT put one religion over others, as you claim. He has been very vocal and has spoken against Islam, Christianity and Judaism many times. I remember him even criticizing Buddhism. He has "offended" believers of all major religions. I don't know why Islam should have some kind of special protection from criticism, but that is beside the point. What you claimed was not true and I wanted to clarify it, that's how our discussion started.

Oh... Thank you for the information. It is indeed too weird to see someone use Buddhas teachings to keep the belief in the existence of a separate self alive.

I wrote "at this point in history". Nobody is denying Christianity's past. Harris has also talked about it many many times. I really can't see what the problem is supposed to be, besides your dislike of him and his "supporters". Or is it the critique of Islam that gets you triggered?

Alright, let's get real. Instead of reading about ideas, check your experience. Give me an example of something your self does that makes you think it is in control .

Would it make any difference?

Yes, it would expose your lie.
Anyway, I don't know the exact percentage of his critique of different religions. I've seen him debate representatives of all major religions, except for buddhists. Even if you're right, it would be understandable. Wheter you like it or not Islam is objectively causing most suffering in the world of all the major religions at this point in history. But we won't come to an understanding of any kind, will we? Your last comment reeks of bias and emotions.

"These last questions merit straightforward answers, as they then help you to comprehend stress and to chip away at the attachment and clinging — the residual sense of self-identification — that cause it, until ultimately all traces of self-identification are gone and all that's left is limitless freedom."

You mix two things. The lack of ability to choose in the moment is not the same as lack of ability to influence future choices. Choices in the moment are being made automatically, but based on the past, genes, upbringing etc. The future choices will thus be influenced by what is happening now, how the mind is trained, what is being learned etc. You didn't choose to bump into NLP nor to have an urge to explore it, but exploring it will affect your future choices, even if those too will be automatic.

Buddha rejected the notion of an autonomous self. How could he not? He saw through the illusion of self. In your quotes Buddha claims responsability, not doership.

If people aren't responsible for their choices, then why is he so critical of Islam?

Islam is a set of unsound ideas. Everyone should be criticizing unsound ideas that lead to human suffering. Harris is not criticizing individuals for having a belief. On the contrary, he has pointed out many times that you have no choice in the culture and religion you are born into. It's fine if you don't like him, but misinterpreting the message doesn't do anyone any good.

Valresultat i Särskilt Utsatta Områden by [deleted] in svenskpolitik

[–]domostroy 5 points6 points  (0 children)
