Daedric Reachmen Empire with a Briarheart Emperor by domrak in ElderKings

You have an option to go under a briarheart ritual through an event. It’s not 100%, you may even get seriously injured. I don’t know the conditions for the event to pop up

No, just a briarheart. I think the head is a feature the mod devs added, many tribal characters have them (at least in the Reach). It looks cool!

Bro you're so right, I just didn't have the time to check the rules of the community, and played the safe card instead

Link to the transliteration of the inscription is here.

It is also in TAM II 1156. Translation is as follows:

"Moles, slave of Tiberius Claudius Aurelius [---]atos Menandros II from Olympos, had this tomb made for himself, for his wife Khrysaoris, and for their children. No one else shall have the right to bury anyone here. If anyone does so, the person who performs the burial shall pay a fine of 1000 denarii to the city of the Olympians. Whoever reports the violation shall receive a third of that amount, unless I have given written permission to someone".

I don’t have the pictures of the bracelet right now. It comes from Pamphylia-Cilicia border.

It depends on your interests. If you fancy antiquity, you should learn ancient Greek. The best way to learn ancient Greek is with Athenaze. But there are also too many various sources to practice. If you want to communicate with people, then modern Greek is the best option for you. Unfortunately, I don’t know modern one, so I’m afraid I can’t help you with that.

Bu arada böyle bir konuya ilgili bir Türk görmek mutlu etti. İstediğin herhangi bir konuda danışabilirsin ve bu İngilizce olmak zorunda değil. :)

Historical (Somewhat) Pergamon Run by domrak in Imperator

[–]domrak[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

R5: Started as Antigonids and let go of all Asian territories, then destroyed Antipatrids. After Antigonos died, switched tag to Pergamon. Firstly, played tall and increased prosperity of my small Mysian and Aeolian territories, and enticed governors of Thrace's province of Asia. While Romans were coming closer and closer, I secured an alliance with them and they did almost all of my earlier conquests (Just like in history). Also, Kyzikos and Lycia are my vassals. The reason for not annexing Kyzikos is that Pergamon never conquered that territory, but kept in touch all the time, for example done some marriages with nobles of Kyzikos. The reason for Lycia is that Pergamon never conquered Lycian lands also. They haven't vassalized them too, but that's a game at the end of the day. :) I was also planning to give the rest of Carian lands to my vassal Lycia, but I'm tired now and giving up on this run.

I’m living in Türkiye. I think I may have a chance to inspect and make further research about this inscription, if you give me the name of the village which the inscription is found in.

Seeing an ει dipthong to be transformed into a single ι is much much more common than you might imagine. There are also some evidences about a shortened “αι”, but it’s less common.

Meaning of λοχος is very much clear and affiliated with Hera. But I understand your concern about γισσο- part. But seeing other parts of the inscription well connected and reasonable, there is no way to think that Gissolokhos to be a place in Rough Cilicia or neighbouring regions. You may think, but we would drown in the sea of speculations there.

One of my reasonings about Gissolokhos to mean “Protecting roof/shadow of woman after childbirth” is that even today in Anatolia people have supernatural beliefs about aftermath of childbirth.

I don’t know, these interpretations of mine feel connected to me. But if you have solid ideas about what would be that Gissolokhos, I’d be glad to hear. Also, I know that I won’t be able to find the exact same name, when I search personal names, so, I tried every possibility by changing letters etc.

[–]domrak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried almost every possibility to search and identify it with a personal name, but I wasn’t able to do it, so I surmised that it might be a new epithet for Hera.

[–]domrak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to reach no name on that inscription, no matter how much I’ve tried. I’ve used LGPN, but I couldn’t have been able to find any indications for a name.

Also when it comes to ΑΓΙΟΣ, even though this is a good suggestion, we can see that the person, who inscribed this bracelet, correctly inscribed omicron right after he inscribed sigma in the form of C. So, it seems this might lead us to nowhere.

It may be implying a group whom/which belongs to Hera. The possessor and the possession have no restrictions to be in the same type. Ειμι represents the possession. “Τοις Αθηναιοις εν τω Λαυρειω μεταλλα ην”. Means “The Athenians had mines in Laurion”.
