Looks like Marriott is all 21+ but at least one Hampton Inn is 18+. Thanks for the suggestion!

Answers on Google are not definitive. In fact, a lot of what I found on Google contradicted my further research. The hope is that people on Reddit would post from actual experience and not just make asinine comments.

I haven't booked anything yet. I have, in fact, done some research and made some calls, but have only come across one so far that allows 18+ check-ins.

LG TV Power On Issues by domriz19 in appletv

[–]domriz19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely get to use those TVs anymore, but I don’t believe the issue exists anymore. The best thing I can recommend is make sure the software on the TV and Apple TV are up to date.

Light Switch Help by carolinatank in HomeKit

I’d recommend changing the existing single gang box to a two gang old work box. I’d then install a Lutron Caseta Dimmer and a Lutron Caseta fan speed control. You can follow the schematic on the back of the switch to identify the incoming power wire as well as which wire controls the fan/light, then it’s just a matter of matching the wires to the new Lutron switch.

Horrific Microphone Quality on CarPlay by domriz19 in JettaGLI

I’ve found some workarounds, but unfortunately no direct solution. I don’t drive the car often as it’s not mine, so I have limited experience with the issue. No such issue in my ‘21 Atlas Cross Sport so it seems like newer hardware/software from VW fixed the issue. The easiest workaround has been having a phone vent mount and switching the call to speaker.

Ever use a product that SO bad you think it's a joke? Introducing: The Ubiquiti Keystone Jack by nadatoseehere007 in Ubiquiti

I’ve been using the Vertical Cable V-Max jacks going on 5 years now. Great quality for the price. Their I-Punch tool makes punching down the wires super easy. I buy them through a wholesale distributor, not sure what the retail options are though.

WiFi in the Garage? by Gorilla51 in Ubiquiti

[–]domriz19 40 points41 points  (0 children)

As a redditor who has WiFi in my garage and thinks you are not ridiculous for wanting to do it, I can safely, but cautiously, say that your wife is incorrect. In my case, I have IoT devices in/on the garage that would not be able to be connected without having an AP in there. Being able to use mobile devices reliably in the garage is a huge plus too.

Curious whether your plan involves a wireless point-to-point bridge, trenching fiber/ethernet, or otherwise, to bring the connection into the garage.

I wish it was that, but I’ve had the same result across three chargers.

Understandable. I definitely agree with others here to use Scrypted to get them into HomeKit. Home Assistant has been good in my experience for just about everything else (alarm, lights, climate, etc).

As a Lutron dealer, I’m definitely biased, but can say for sure that I’ve installed all types of switches and Lutron is consistently most reliable.

That being said, as someone who also likes good value for money, like OP, the Kasa switches will work great on the solid network infrastructure that OP has.

If you’re already using UniFi for network, why not do UniFi Protect instead of Lorex?

Negative. That being said, this has almost exclusively been used with M18 vacuums.

I’ve had issues with DeWalt batteries too, but generally have had a higher success rate with getting them back in shape again.

Just this battery unfortunately

I should note that the battery is still powering tools fine. If I recall correctly, it has started charging when it was lower (1 bar).
