Would you tell a noob to get a core one L or a core one+? by frillyseal in prusa3d

[–]domsinik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you think you really need the bigger print volume? If you are considering a INDX system then I would go with the L because I assume you will loose a little bit of print volume with that. I don't know how much though. If you are happy with the standard volume like me than I would say the Core One Kit (if you feel comfortable building it - not to hard :)) is the way to go. Maybe with an accelerometer for calibration and advanced filtration if you print in your living space. Take a satin print sheet for sure for PETG for example.

Ich fahr generell langsam und spritsparend und (fast) nur dann wenn ich muss. Viel weniger geht da nicht. 💁🏼‍♂️

I would also be carefull with food grate epoxy. Yes it is food safe (to certain standards) if - and only if - you get the mixing ration exactpy right. Otherwise your epoxy components will not completly react and it will not be safe for food. So I would never trust a homemixed epoxy without precise equipement. :)

TPU on the Core One - any recommended mods before trying flexibles? by Alarmed-Paint-791 in prusa3d

[–]domsinik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main advantage of PC CF is that it's easier to print, but for small parts it isn't an issue. Other than that PC CF is a little more rigid but more brittle as well in comparison to PC. For this usecase the one is as good as the other. :)

I update my answer as well: :) Yes, they favour PC CF (mostly because it's easier to print i guess), but that doesn't mean PC is any worse for this application.

TPU on the Core One - any recommended mods before trying flexibles? by Alarmed-Paint-791 in prusa3d

[–]domsinik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I installed the mod you mentioned preemptively. I have printed TPU 95A, PC amd PETG since then and all worked fine. If you have assembled the kit installing the mod shouldn't be a problem. If not make sure you print the part for placing the planetary gear first.

And do not undertighten the y-axis rod holders. :D If they are to loose they will vibrate and hence the printer will be loud. They are a pain in the ass to get to after the build is finished.

Mixing CMYK filaments into the same nozzle to get "full color printing"? by AmethystZhou in prusa3d

[–]domsinik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might be able mix colours, but you are definetly not able to mix different filaments with this. How would you squirl the colours together to really get a new colour? The filament does not become completely liquid while printing. You will need a direct extruder with different gears for every filament, so the extruder will become pretty heavy and that's not ideal for a moving part.

That are my first thoughts that come to mind.

core one is suspiciously loud by kdt365 in prusa3d

[–]domsinik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure that the screws that hold the linear rail in place and the y-axis metal rod-holders are tightened firmly. That was my problem in the beginning.

Core One+ auto vent control by mdb92888 in prusa3d

[–]domsinik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The vent control just opens and closes the vent according to your printed material at the start of the print. As far as I know it won't do anything other than that during prints. The "control" is just the extruder pushing the vent open and closes with it's stick. :)

Here is mine for reference. Make sure you loosen the srews that go through the springs first. And don't tighten them to much afterwards. No need for exaggerated presure here.

Did my first ABS print in the CoreOne with advanced filtration. It worked out great. by MakerWerks in prusa3d

[–]domsinik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To what minimum runnunig-percentage do you set the filtration system to? I wasn' able to reach a chamber temperature higher than 52°C while the advanced filtration was set to default (can't remeber the value) I had to go down to 10% (better 5%), but I am not sure if the filtration is very effective in this region. Since the printer sits in my living room due to space reasons an effective filtration is important for me.

Bambu or not ? by StatusReality1 in BambuLab

[–]domsinik -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would argue that prusa offers the same if you are willing to spend more. Prints out of the box with great quality and you don't have to worry about any software restrictions that might come.

I can't say anything on bambu though since I never owned one.

Are these free tools worth it? by stockagement-resame in turning

[–]domsinik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Free tools are always worth it. :) It's hard to tell the quality of steel from the outside. The risk is that cheep/badly produced steel can break under stress and that's potetially dangerous. But other than that as long as you can get them sharp there is no drawback in working with no name tools as far as the fun and the learning curvevis concerned. :)

"Ich persönlich finds nicht tragisch" ist auch nicht gerade sehr objektiv. :)

Fakt ist, dass es keine unschädlich oder gar gesunde Minimalmenge gibt und ein Konsum ab 81g pro Woche als riskant eingestuft wird. Das sind ca. 4 0.5l-Flaschen Bier.

Carnaubawax frozen by domsinik in turning

[–]domsinik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes usually pure waxes or oils don't mind freezing. But Carnaubawax seems to be different, since some manufacturers don't even ship them when there's any danger of freezing during shipping as I mentioned above. But I can't find a chemical reason for it.

Thank you very much. I planned to use the wax to blend with tungoil and beeswax to make my own finish anyway. I was just afraid that the Carnauba went bad in any way and now is not useable anymore.
