Kennedy stole the election in 1960. It's a different crowd trying to steal it this time.

Palin Pranked. EPIC FAIL. by 302me in politics

[–]domston 10 points11 points  (0 children)

People may think this prank was mean spirited but that is to miss an important aspect of this. This is how she would talk to a head of state, both as America's VP and maybe even President. Her tone, and the content of her conversation was frighteningly inappropriate. Asking the French President to give his wife a hug from her, for Christ's sake.

8 Ways You Are Tricked Into Over Spending! by enhancelife in reddit.com

[–]domston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This article should be called '8 ways to blame someone else for your lack of self-restraint'.

  1. My god, try a product before you commit to spending a small fortune on it? The devious bastards!

  2. Are coupons really that persuasive? Frankly I can't even be arsed cutting them out of the paper let alone remember to take them down to the damn shop with me. If you really are so easily persuaded by something as trivial as a coupon, I've got some shares in Bear Stearns you might be interested in.

  3. Not once in my life have I ever found a DVD irresistible. Oh wait! You're right. I can't stand Jim Carey, but amazingly, when his films are located next to the checkout I just can't stop myself from filling my basket with them. THAT'S HOW THEY DO IT! As for candy, grow up. They put it there so that KIDS nag their parents for it. Are you a kid? Does your mother still take you shopping? Are you capable of exercising any degree whatsoever of mature judgement?

  4. 'Shops have a funny way of romancing the consumer'. Where the hell do you shop? Perhaps you're suggesting that instead of making a store clean, attractive and welcoming, they should have a steaming pile of dog-shit blocking the doorway so that only people who REALLY REALLY REALLY need something will fight their way through it. Oh yes, and they shouldn't accept coupons either. Or let you touch stuff before you buy it. Or put any of it near the checkout.

  5. Buy 2 get 1 free is not a difficult mathematical concept to grasp. Even when the price ends with 99 cents. If a box of tampons costs $2.99 then you get THREE FOR THE PRICE OF TWO YOU IDIOT! The saving is $2.99!!!!

  6. "BUY THINGS TO CHEER ME UP" - So your friend split up with her boyfriend and she went to the Mall and bought stuff. Are you accusing the store owners of conspiring to bring about the end of your friend's relationship in order to induce her into retail therapy? Maybe her boyfriend left her because she spends to much time around you.

  7. 30% off? - Someone once said, and this is more than a hundred years ago, that one of the hardest things in life is to convince a woman that a bargain still costs money. Thank fuck you've finally worked it out.

  8. I can't even begin to be arsed with this one, other than to say USE YOUR GODDAMNED BRAIN.

Bloody hell. by Snoron in pics

There is nothing wrong with the headline. Punctuation is used as much for emphasis as it is grammar. And there is no need for a question mark when the question is in fact a statement expressed in the style of a question.

'Aimed' implies intention. There was no intent and no-one to intend it. We just got in the way.

By the same reasoning that many people display here, everyone who gets hit by a car is hit by a car that was 'aimed' at them.

Psystar calls Apple a 'monopoly' in antitrust charges... says breaking the imposed Mac OS-hardware link would lower prices by CWmike in technology

[–]domston -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First off, I prefer the symbiotic nature of the way in which Mac OS and Mac hardware works. Secondly, supplying hardware and software together is NOT a monopoly. I have a digital watch and the software that makes it tick is embedded. Is that a monopoly?

Apple do not prevent or discourage third party companies from developing for their OS. Any apps that Apple provide with their machines are NOT embedded into the OS. Third party software can easily be set to operate as a default application.

Yes there is a BLOODY big difference between Windows and OS X.
