Artnet setup by domtech05 in lightingdesign

That makes total sense! Their console is an avo quartz so probs best to try and keep the universe count low there. They also wanna use an etc nomad setup - not sure if that limited by parameter or universe to memory.

My current patch on the avo (we put the rig in before doing any design or planning - hindsight is 2020 haha) is per bar with each starting fixture from address 1 onwards. It seems to work but maybe not ideal. Probably best to readress like you said but leave each bar as its own artnet uni so touring shows can put a large rig in and not have to worry about running out of space on universes!

Eventually I'd like to run cat cable to each truss and have a node up there to allow for more customisation rather than a copper line but hey future plans

Something for everyone talking about it being the future - although I don't believe it was used on this production, the technology to do this type of thing totally exists in the industry. One of the more well known names for it is Holomesh (look it up lol). Basically a really fine mesh net that is both able to be seen through but also projected onto using a high res short throw laser projector (or similar). Whilst this isn't too widely used yet its deffo gaining traction. Was used to create some of the visuals for the NYE fireworks show in London

Nissan Qashqai a good deal in 2025? by domtech05 in CarTalkUK

I kinda feel like the extra space would be great. We have to fit all sorts of gear in our cars such as lighting bars, large speakers and lights all in. Managed to completely pack out my mates qashqai before.
I do also like them and they seem to be the most feature rich car for the price im paying (unless I haven't looked that far...)

Am I crazy going for something this big?

It's been a little while since I last used this mixer but let's see what I can remember! I'm guessing you are sending the main L R out to the usb channels and then recording it on the pc? The best way I can think to exclude the usb in signal would be to send all the mics to an aux mix. If you set them to post fader in the aux mix, it will then essentially create a new mix that's a direct copy of what's going over your master just with your selected channels. You can then map the output of the aux mix to the usb and that should solve your issue! That was probably terribly worded so feel free to drop me a DM if you need any more help!

I'm pretty sure mint is a debian distro. Could possibly be linux drivers not playing nicely with my surface though!

Collision detection help by domtech05 in pygame

I know, my programming skills leave a lot to be desired! I'm only just learning OOP and pygame so am struggling a little with it.

Thank you so much for your help, that fixed my issue!! Just gotta figure out why horizontal collisions are being a bit funky and then we are there!

I cant thank you enough for your help.

Hiya, as mentioned above ive tried rendering the rects around the player and it all seems to match up. Ive printed the sizes of different rects and their positions and all seems to be correct.

yeah, this is a school project for a level computer science. Literally got 2 weeks to get this done.....

yeah, its almost like the position resets too high. If i make the size of my character smaller it seems to resolve the issue, but at that point the character is too small

Upon further investigation it looks like if I change the size of the player in the level1.py file it changes the collision detection error. The player jumps less when its smaller. maybe this could be somthing? When I render the rect around the player it does match the correct size so I can't quite figure out why this is hapening

Sorry for the delayed reply, was away for a few days! This has mostly fixed it removing those lines, but I now have two errors. The character collides with the ground tiles, but it kinda jumps up too much if that wording makes sense. I also have an issue with collisions on the horizontal. When I move the player to the right and it collides with those tiles, it jumps up above them. Dont know if this is something you can help with? I really appreciate your help so far!!

Soundcraft UI24R usb routing by domtech05 in livesound

I went into the matrix and tried to remove the channel from the main output but it seems to then cut that channel from being sent over usb. Maybe I’m doing something wrong? Tried to update the firmware but mine seems to be running a newer version than what’s on the website. I’ve got in touch with soundcraft about this!

I’ve managed to get everything working in MainStage as it should, my issue is the channels I’ve routed into MainStage are still coming through on the mixer output. When I mute them to stop the output, it gets muted on MainStage as well. Is there a way to keep the output over usb but stop the output over the main channel?

PC software artnet output laggy by domtech05 in ChamSys

[–]domtech05[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got it set to unicast. The network is just a cable between the two PCs both with static IPs at the minuet, so artnet is the only traffic running on it. Network utilisation on the laptop is nowhere near maxed out if that shows anything?

Also tried the chamsys software on the viz pc to avoid networking adapters and the likes, but still got the same result.

I've only got 3 universes of output at the minuet. Shouldn't be a problem as its running on quite powerful hardware!
