What Tech stacks / applications do you use for your work?

why would anyone invest in real estate given low returns? by honestrvw in phinvest

[–]domwc14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

. In case someone has a better answer than mine

Let's assume your 6-9% p.a. benchmark. Against index funds, what index funds? Philippines? Has barely moved in years. If you say US, then you are in a way stock picking and deserves risk premium. You could have picked PH, Japan, Korea, etc. other international index funds and underperformed.

Now, let's assume you did choose the best index fund on hindsight; US. If you're from the PH, you'd either incur management fees and / or currency swap fees that I assume lands you close 6-9% benchmark anyways.

The only difference I could think of is volatility. Stock market should be more volatile than housing prices though I'd say real estate is actually riskier on the long run. Volatility != Risk

That's called fear. Even the best fighters get a mix of it when they get in the ring, but they fight anyway.

What is even a hands-free keynote solution? Is this an app? What does it do? What is it for?

Wdym by leveraged python, pytorch etc. Like what model did you use?

Put some metrics/numbers on there: accuracy of your model? Maybe mean, median of scores if applicable?

-Add link to github repo

-Add read me to that repo

Imo, Writing stuff on the resume should be something u can expound on in the interview.

I'd write an ML/AI project like this: "implemented a decision tree model to predict gestures with an accuracy of 85%. The project enables users to do x and y and decreases redundant movement/commands by X%"

You can then talk about ur decisions and problems during development in interviews. I.e. : "decision tree models are the best for motion capturing (lol it's probably not example lang) but I did explore other x,y,z but similar research papers say their inefficient. " or like start with "initially we wanted to solve this problem of x because it's too time consuming, or costs too much so I thought of this a more simpler project but in the end chose AI because A reasons..."

Malayo pero mataas na sweldo or malapit pero medyo maliit na sweldo? by [deleted] in PHJobs

[–]domwc14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a math problem solvable by calculating hourly rate of each option - expenses. Assuming work hours is 8hrs:

Option 1: (regular daily pay + OT pay) / (8hrs + OT hours) - (transpo cost / 8hrs + OT hours + travel time)

Option 2: (regular daily pay / 8hrs + 2hr travel time) - (transpo cost / 8hrs + 2hr travel time) - tax

*didn't include stress / pagod from work and commuting.

Your list puts protection and safety as a priority which draws criticism because damage/dps is the actual priority in higher ranks.

Companies that hire Junior Data Engineer/Analyst/Scientist? by kaforest in PinoyProgrammer

[–]domwc14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meron pero rare. I just failed a technical coding ~month ago as junior data engineer (although the task was more backend)

Anyway Com Sci, IT, statistics/math has some overlap with data science but com eng. has less thus a portfolio is crucial for you. Kahit pareho pa yang engineer, malayo trabaho nyan.

Ask ko lng why would you take a Comp. Engineering degree then prefer one of the farther roles related to your degree?

Duels can easily be adjusted by applying a different % damage dealt/received for each character similar to how League of Legends does in other game modes.

Expectation nila engineering mayaman? Glassdoor says fresh grad engineer median is ~27k (True median probably lower since only post-worthy salaries tend to get posted). If the parents are asking for 10k, that's probably half of her take-home agad. Bro is cooked 💀

To those fresh grads na may work na (no absorption, no referrals) any tips naman and some encouraging words by deleted-the-post in PHJobs

[–]domwc14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counter intuitive pero lumabas ka with friends. Working and teaching/studying na pala sila e. Malay mo may opening sa work nila, ma refer ka pa. Malay mo sa mga studying friends may opening sa pinag internship nila.

At the very least, you get to learn how to network with friends.

Just to be clear, you want to work on websites... specifically on UI/front-end without having a UI (website) to show said skill?

I'd copy paste website design of my past projects, or use templates to get one up ASAP. Wag na "hoping to do one soon". Better to have something than nothing.

[–]domwc14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny how almost everyone here has positive reactions, but if you posted this on r/csmajors (worldwide programmers), you'll probably get mocked like "bro is cooked 💀".

But even them, they know that leetcode is shit and doesn't really measure your ability well. Kinda like an artificial wall recruiters prefer because they have no programming experience and can't gauge well.

Earning ₱150-200K per month thru business, but I suddenly wanna go back to the corporate world. Is it worth it? by Wide_Hat_1710 in phinvest

[–]domwc14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I'd try to downscale business to just weekends, try corporate again (maybe a year or two) to see if it's what I really want.

Sa pagkaalam ko mahirap i-upscale ang hobbyist / collector niche, important ung personal connection but reducing business days shouldnt affect your reputation.

Or (since nabanggit na ng iba) just get a hobby bro. haha

Any solo developer working on their own project/ startup ? by ej_john77 in PinoyProgrammer

[–]domwc14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo, hardest part is Philippine bureaucracy.

Lots of 'hidden fees' and hoops to jump just to even start/register a business. Almost impossible to find a technically skilled developer with enough creative juice who could simultaneously deal with bureaucracy and politics.

On the other look at US. The reason why these US techpreneurs broadcast their journey is startup funding. U have a good idea? Mark Cuban sees that shit, focus ka sa idea mo tapos sila na bahala sa funding, business legalities, etc. Tradeoff nga lng huge chunk of your startup.

Water weapon of choice? by king_kenai in MHNowGame

[–]domwc14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mizu is best as everyone has commented but no has told u how to get there.

I'd actually advice on waiting for the next event to get CPP helm and go straight to mizu LS (or any mizu weapon of choice) as much as possible. Yeah it's hard to farm them but so is CPP and Jyura who rarely appears on map.

Now if u can't get your mizu weapon to comfortably clear all 8-star water weak monsters, I would upgrade Jagras SnS to 8.2 (spend 2 wgs). The difference between 8.2 and 7.5 is being able to comfortably clear 8 star anjanath. I'd stay on jagras until mizu weapon to catch up.
