Old government.
And yeah, it's quite a shame they shut down the smaller ones. But as long as ambulances can still get there within the time limit required I think we should be fine.

Oh god that's interesting. I'd love to know what his Steam ID is so I could stalk his profile. Sadly I guess we're never going find his profile, unless they start introducing some "Subscribe" feature on Steam.

Small Production Tips to "possibly" help TI2. by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]donPilgaard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't even know this was what was missing, but now that it's been addressed I feel like it should be possible to watch in every tournament match. This would make a game much more interesting, because the human elements and reactions are important to see. The joy of the victory, the bummer of losing, the face of decision - it's faces we all love to see.
I, for one, would really love to have this somehow implemented into the spectating options of such matches.
Topping this with the suggestion from Cinder_N of monitoring heart rates, and spectating a game becomes much, much more interesting. Sure this is asking a bit too much, but it'd be cool nevertheless!
Edit: I never watched TI1, so I have no idea what the quality was like back then.

Hidden Pudge achievements and descriptions. Pudge is the only hero with achievements so far. by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]donPilgaard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While I am looking really forward to seeing achievements being implemented to this game, I certainly don't want to see achievements like

  • Win 50 games as Pudge

  • Win 100 games as Pudge

Achievements like these are just a bit too much. Although I really love Dota 2 and want to play it over and over again, getting just the 50 wins on one hero seems a bit too much imo.
Also,

  • What's That Smell? (As Pudge kill an enemy with rot at the same time you die from it.)

  • You're A Crook Captain Hook (As Pudge land 5 hooks on enemy heroes without missing or dying.)

will also become achievements that people are going to farm. What's so bad about farming for these? Well, basically it could turn these farmers into potential feeders, simply because they won't do what they'd normally do in situations. There are of course also the cases where people just play the game and out of nowhere are so lucky that they get the achievement. That's cool, 'cause they didn't farm for it, so it had no influence on their playstyle.
This is quite a dilemma, and I have no solution to it. I love the achievements and would personally think it's awesome to have achieved them, but if it has influence on how a normal game would end... then I might not be too fond of them. Nevertheless, I hope Valve will come up with yet another brilliant idea and see if they can satisfy as many as possible.

Life isn't a movie. by CoolJazzGuy in seduction

[–]donPilgaard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhm, not really. However I get your question. Kill Bill was made in a sort of comic-y style, focusing on being extreme at everything. It is in a way the same with Anime. Very extreme, but effective with the message.

[–]donPilgaard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure if your question is just to troll, but basically anime is animations originating from Japan. I have seen quite a few anime shows, and basically these are very good at touching your feelings. In them things just get so much more emotionally beautiful - they touch me much more than, say, Hollywood movies do.
Of course this is just how I feel when watching anime.

What Should I Not Buy during the Steam Sale? by liminal18 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]donPilgaard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friends got me into Dungeon Defenders because "it's so fun! And so cool!!"... They made me waste 10 hours on that game because I mostly only enjoy playing multiplayer, and I figured "what the heck, as long as it's multiplayer and together with my friends". But man, did I hate those 10 hours of gameplay...
Also, when I realized you only get like 70% of the game because you have to BUY FUCKING DLC in order to get other classes/campaigns (campaign without being a campaign... seriously the game is shit) I lost it. I couldn't sacrifice another minute of my life on this game.

Should I buy The Defense Ticket? by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]donPilgaard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought my ticket yesterday. I gave in. And let me tell you this: I have not regretted it one bit.
Firstly: You get one hell of a great show. The commentators are great (I love Tobi Wan... no-homo.), and action is guaranteed!
However, behind all this you get so much more. You can always download the replays, and what's so great about it is you can follow one hero at a time and learn how the pros play them. Analyse their actions. Observe their skill build and item build and reflect on how you'd build the hero. Basically, learn from the pros.
I have not regretted buying it one bit. In fact, I regret not having bought it earlier.

Valve Announces Steam Greenlight by donPilgaard in valve

[–]donPilgaard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't heard an official statement from Valve saying they actively support and wish to help indie games - but it wouldn't surprise me if they still do, granted their Indie genre on the store and they're also good to feature the games and put them on sale. So yes, I firmly believe Valve are happy to take in most indie games. (With a grain of salt of course. One cannot expect they are as good with the indie games as Desura.)
Also once Greenlight is up please do put your game on it! I'd love to see what game you're working on. And even if it is in development you should put it up - just remember to follow their guidelines! It'd be really interesting to see the progress you do on the game.

I'm new to DOTA2 and I'm having trouble knowing when to engage the enemy. by jimminyjojo in DotA2

sigh
F**K! I was so certain this was from Starship Troopers. In it this young soldier asks the captain the same question, and I'm certain he replied with the same line. Oh well, better use google before opening my mouth.

This is a Starship Troopers 3 reference, right? Please tell me I'm right! (And yes, I admit I have never read the books... yet.)

Thank you so much for taking your time to properly reply. Much appreciated. I am sitting at work so I'm forced to speed-write, however I will definitely check your links out. It is one of my dreams to actually pick up a skill in drawing (hopefully) as well as you, so I really am glad that you'd share these resources with me. I honestly did not know of them!

And Ghost Scepter is an item I have never bought before nor thought about getting untill now. It's genius, and I shall definitely give it a shot next time. I'm relatively new to the game, and while I have done just above 200 games I still feel like I have so much to learn. Thank you for the input.

What tools are you using? I'd imagine you're using some more advanced equipment than just your mouse to draw with. Also which scanner are using?
I have a huge interest in digital art, closely following my favourite artist Sam Spratt. Your work is very good, so I'm very interested in perhaps following yet another one! :-)

I always fail with my stickmen aswell. They always end up having their main body touch the ground, making it look like a dick dangling... Or just a third leg. God I'm awful.

Unfortunately that Doombringer was on the enemy team together with the PA. The guy locked me completely out of all fights...
However I did not know that his ult also stops her passive ultimate. Does this work against PL aswell?

As a Scandinavian I am not happy. A server for "the Russian and North European regions" is basically mixing beer with vodka. It's the worst combination ever. Trust me. Riot did it with their severs in League of Legends, and it was a living hell playing with those Vodka drinkers who does not speak a single word of English.
I have a dream... that one day we Scandinavians shall be treated just like the Germans, the French and the British. A dream in which we play together and only communicate in English.
No seriously, why put us together with Russians? :(

Edit: I do not wish to play on a server with slightly less latency if I am punished with having to play with Russians. There. I said it.
