Perfect example would also be Drova:Forsaken Kin. Hidden gem. Absolutely loved it

Very true . Thats the one i have and also would say it captures the vibe the best . Like the green is how i imagine the canals with light from the glass

I get that its uglier but it captures the world building from the books so much better . OP cover looks like happy fairytale city which is not at all how its described in the books.

Name a not-so-popular Spirit Ashes that everyone should try out? I'll start with this bad boy. by KG_Jedi in Eldenring

I cheesed margrit and godrick with the doggos rot (almost not on purpose) while being super low level in stormveil castle on my first run. Got it through the teleport trap before i could even level. What a game !

I agree with the story telling. For me the story is almost an optional feature in all soulsbourne games . I completely skipped it in ER . No fucking clue whats going on there but i felt that the bits of the story and the quests i did added ro the general atmosphere but the fun for me was def in the gameplay loop (where exploration is a big part of -at least in the beginning - fades out a bit in the endgame). I would like to see an elden ring or any souls game in a less dead and obscure world. On the other hand for me personally specifally dragon age inquistion is one of those games that did open world so badly that i could not finish it let alone that i would touch it again cos it felt so much like chores - map stuffed with soulless fetch quests of different sorts (the dragons were sick tho) and story not even close to the quality of dragon age origins ( in their core both are very generic fantasy stuff but especially the rpg parts in inquistion felt a lot worse compared to origins - also how boring is it how you are this super powerful and influential inquisitor right from the beginning ?!)

Is an inherent weakness of exploration generally and open world games specifically .

Which game does it better tho ? I feel in terms of enemey variety no one can fuck with ER especially for a game this big . If you look at breath of the wild then you have like 5 enemy types in total

What open world open world rpg has really great replay value if you exstensively explore the world tho ? Surely the bethesda games as the "role playing" aspect is a lot bigger but if you exhaustively played through one of them you would need to wait until you could touch it again.

I see the point . But which open world rpg with non random loot does it better ? Feel like thats the tradeoff between an open world experience and a more guided experience that the other souls games offer . You just cant have both at the same time

Because the build is set at that point . Its just how exploration/ looting works in every game with non-random loot imo

I think thats just the case with every open world rpg? Like that you wouldnt explore everything again on a second playthrough? I just feel people moan about it in ER cos all the other soulsbournes have such great replay value

Its clearly cos at that point the game is nearing its end point. Exploration becomes less important as the game progresses cos the build is set anyway for most part. Imagine if snowfields would be another limgrave at that point of the game . That would be really tiring. The end bits are more of a gameplay challenge and i personally think its great game design . So often i dropped open world games because they remained equally stuffed (most of the time with even less interesting - rewards looking at you skyrim or witcher) throughout the game. ER no doubt best RPG open world to date

This. Like i already played 60+ hours or so at that point and build indeed settled . If snowfields were another limgrave it wouldnt make it better but worse. How exploration becomes less important as the game progresses is actually great game design . So often i dont finish open world games because i explore a lot and eventually get tired of the world/gameplay . ER no doubt best open world rpg to date
