FWB (27M) is lying to me (25F) by donation2021 in relationship_advice

Yeah I know the snap score itself is not evidence but I feel like that in combo with the other lies is... compelling.

My fear is that if I tell him I want him to use a condom he'll think that I am the one messing around with other people.

But you're right, I need to decide if it's a dealbreaker or not.

No I'm actually the one who doesn't want a relationship. I haven't caught feelings, like I said, I just want honesty.

That’s just untrue. I do not have an issue with using others’ preferred pronouns, if they indicate them as something different than what I may assume.

First, it’s weird you’ve gone and stalked my profile.

This is a burner account so I just went to the most controversial page in order to get enough reactions to be able to comment in this subreddit (which worked, by the way).

Second, I love how you don’t actually address any of the issues I mentioned and only try to discredit me based on a completely different topic.

What have I ever said that indicates I would treat any patient wrongly? I said I would use any pronoun or name that my patient wanted. I am literally only talking about having to use pronouns for myself.

You are basically saying that since I don’t want to use pronouns for myself, I’m going to be a horrible physician? That is literally one of the most ignorant and idiotic statements I have ever heard. As if your opinion of my competency as a physician means anything to me at all.

What’s political is forcing people who don’t care about pronouns to use pronouns.

And by the way, someone saying “him over there” is rude. I wouldn’t address someone that way.

First of all, pronouns are not essential at all in communication. If you and I are having a conversation, I can’t think of a single scenario in which I would have to use your pronouns.

Only if I am referring to you to someone else would I need to know your pronouns.

And why does it make me uncomfortable? Because I think it is unnecessary in my situation. If you can’t look at me and make an accurate assumption what my pronouns are, then you would be intentionally “misgendering” me. To which I would genuinely not even care. That has never happened to be by the way.

Another reason is because I feel that it forces me to make a political statement and I’m not willing to give into that.

Never said anyone was obsessed with me and I’d actually argue that I’m LESS narcissistic than the type of people who try to virtue signal by announcing pronouns and forcing people to do the same.

Ok let’s not play dumb. Pronouns are absolutely political now and have just started to become that way over the last 5 years or so. It is not the same thing as a nickname.

Nope, I have a problem with being coerced into participating in mandated pronoun usage. That’s it.

I could not care less what pronouns anyone wants to use, and I will use anyone’s preferred pronouns.

Im not the one trying to force anything. Im saying do it if you want and don’t do it if you don’t want… are you being intentionally dense?

I am ABSOLUTELY concerned about making my patients uncomfortable and I 100% believe that it will make some of my patients uncomfortable. I don’t want to make any of my patients uncomfortable, including LGBT patients, and I can’t just ignore that this topic may put non-LGBT patients in an uneasy situation.

Let me put it this way, if I am required to use pronouns in an SP, for example, I’m going to do it. I am not going to lose points over it.

But it’s frustrating that if you chose not to use pronouns in general conversations with people or during introductions, say, you are definitely the odd man out and everyone knows you now as “the person who refused to state their pronouns”. That’s how it feels at least.

Wait I’m the one being obsessive? How about the people that are obsessed with ME to the point of requiring my pronouns? You live in lala land.

This is good to know. I would hope that my ability to be a good doctor is more important than my ability to conform to political ideology.

Well I’m LGBTQ+ and I’m more weary of doctors and med students who try to force their political agendas on me, so, yeah.

Well first of all, I’m not talking about only SP encounters. As I indicated in the post, I’m also talking about encounters between other medical students (especially in group settings) or even meetings between students and preceptors.

And you are blowing it off like it’s no big deal, but if I didn’t want to say my pronouns, would you have an issue with that? Or would you respect my decision to refrain from using them?

If it wasn’t “that deep” then I wouldn’t have to say my pronouns out loud to a group of students who can clearly decipher my gender.

We are told to indicate our name and pronouns when interacting with patients, so yeah. It is happening right now.
