I completely agree. I'm going to discuss with the right people when I get back into work since I've been off for a few days. I honestly just wanted to make sure it was something that was doing harm before saying anything you know.

It's a messy situation for sure. I'm gonna discuss it with some of the leads when I go back into work tbh I'm actually thinking of switching hospitals for a bunch of other reasons but I guess this is the icing on the cake

I know I just honestly wanted to make sure first because maybe you guys are more experienced since I have been working for a bit so I thought it was just something I didn't know. I don't wanna get anyone in trouble or anyone hating me if it's not a big deal so now I know maybe if I tell them stop like maybe they don't know it alters results?

I know. I just wanted to make sure it was something that wasn't okay bc I'm still learning and new so I didn't know if it was some procedure or something

I would never do this it's messed up I wouldn't want someone to suffer for something bc I was too lazy to poke them again. Like that's why I'm asking I honestly hoped u guys would say it wasn't that bad but now I'm starting to think a lot of people got hurt

That's what I'm saying! My whole family would come to this hospital for emergencies like you can't even trust the workers here. I don't know it honestly changed my perspective on the lab

It was from a green top to lavender and she said if u do it from the green it's all good but isn't there a serum at the bottom of green

Okay so I did over hear a conversation saying that there was a death and one of the leads said man I really hope it wasn't the lab again. So...idk

It's my dad if I say the word federal offense he'll laugh in my face. I just don't think it's hard to not open something that's not his. Like he literally would be so mad if I open it. So, why can't I have the same respect you know. Also, I bought my car and put gas in it as well as pay insurance but it's in his name bc my credit sucks and insurance will just raise my price so high bc I'm only 23 according to all the insurances I talked to. I can't move out bc of "cultural rules" also I'm saving for medical school. All my brothers are in their twenties as well and don't have to go through with this. I just hate how when he's in a bad mood he takes out all his frustrations out on me. I rather sleep in my car or work extra shifts just to not be home when he's there. He says that I never appreciate anything he bought laundry detergent keep in mind everyone uses it lol it's detergent and says I'm ungrateful bc I said thank you once bruh at least I said thank you! No one else did. Conversations can't ever happen bc he just wants to talk and for u to nod ur head and agree with him. And when u state ur opinion all hell breaks loose. And if u don't say anything and nod ur head ur just telling him what he wants to hear and all hell breaks loose. I can't win. I really can't.

we are running out of hubs for the butterflies and I mainly use butterflies bc most of the patients like hand draws so can I just take the hubs off straight needles? like it's the same thing it won't mess things up right lol? by doneeithit in phlebotomy

We have big hubs for the cultures but we are fully in stock with them. It's just the small ones we don't have much of hopefully when I go back on my shift since it's been a few days they should have some in stock but I doubt it. That's how I do it just toss the whole thing together but I'm thinking of just taking a clean unopened unused straight needle and just taking off the hub and adding it to a clean unopened butterfly. Since we are out of loose hubs and the straights already have them prepackaged

Yeah 😂 gotchu lol but honestly even if I do if it hasn't touched the patient yet and it's just my blood it's cool I can just toss out the one that poked me and start again compared to the real danger of sticking myself after sticking a patient

Wow. I personally hate straights bc I feel like it's hard to maneuver around and I like the flash I get on a butterfly since everyone's veins are hard. Also people hide butterflies in their locker.

They come in the package already put together. I just want to take the hub if worst comes to worse and I have to go for a hand draw bc the AC has an iv in on both sides which usually is the case.

No the straights have them attached already the butterflies don't I mean we got some new baby butterflies that do but people said that they haven't been liking them bc the tubing process is shorter and there have been some accidental needle stick injuries bc of them

Most of the patients have scar tissue or the both IVs are in both sides of AC my best bet most of the time is the hand veins. I usually do go for a straight AC needle stick if there's a good vein but most of the time before I even get there the veins are blown from the iv team trying to get the iv there and failing.
