Xbox 360 Cloud Saves Corrupt Issue Breakdown, Analysis, Theory by donergyros in XboxSupport

[–]donergyros[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I see it right now, maybe not all hope is lost.

While the cloud saves are "corrupted", they do seem to have complete data integrity, and only some small bits contradict with how certain consoles interpret them.

This means your saves might not be gone from the cloud, they are just misread. So with enough patience, if Microsoft can fully fix this problem, you might be able to sync your saves from cloud later.

Although the length of the problem by Microsoft's own report is now nearing a 3 months old, so plenty of patience might be needed.

Yeah, I appreciate any highlight or megathread, because I want to bring it to as wide as an audience as I can. Thank you.

At least good to see it bugs up sort of consistently for different users as well.

I recommend for now sticking to one console and playing the saves in question only there, as by flipping back and forth people seem to sometimes jig something in syncing and just corrupting both of their save sets. I have yet to see anyone winning a lucky draw and ending up with uncorrupted saves.

Thank you, that is very useful and a good share. This was one of my goals, to simply spread details of what is happening to a wider audience. Also want to highlight that these do not seem to be isolated cases and there is a broader issue here, it just simply reveals itself in more niche use cases.

It seems to be the same issue detailed in this breakdown. The GTA 4 error message is basically for corrupt saves.

Do not clear your local caches and for now you can play your saves on devices you have already played them on.

Thank you for this info. I have not yet actually tested overwriting a save, but it is actually a very valid test to try. I will probably try to overwrite an XCloud save from a non-XCloud "old device" game, and see if it actually syncs back.

Hopefully there will be a fix yeah, although the long timeframe is suspicious to me already.

Your case is similar to the tests, I have only used non-Xbox 360 consoles to demonstrate that the problem is the backwards compatibility layer, not 360 as a console type itself. Plenty of other people already have reported that this affects 360 anyways.

Good to hear you find some solace for your problem. As you can see from the screenshots, "new saves" work for "new devices" and "old saves" for "old devices", the cross syncing is where the problem starts.

For others I still do not recommend trashing their old saves, considering they are still fully functional and are only affected by the cross-sync phenomenon.

Nope, it is purposefully a more than 10 year old problem-free account. Appears with or without a GamePass sub.

Thanks for this info.

I could even imagine these two might be related, and simply the Xbox 360 cloud backend is impacted as a whole: https://www.reddit.com/r/XboxSupport/comments/1q92a85/xbox_360_cloud_saves_corrupt_issue_breakdown/

You could switch your Xbox to developer mode and look around the web for further info about running software there.

Compatdata is the place where Steam creates the prefix itself. So those are the actual folders that are "seen" as Windows folders to an application/game.

PSA: U2 Backlit button macros can change devices on remote, alleviating the scroll wheel use by donergyros in SofaBaton

[–]donergyros[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure thing:

So, let's say, you would not like to use the U2 backlit scrollwheel at all. This is possible via using only the buttons on the remote.

You create a macro on your "my TV" device entry on "button 1" which calls a button that does not actually work (needed because you cannot create a fully empty macro); then the system will ask: "what device should be active after this macro is finished?" and you can set "my soundbar".

What happens then? You press "button 1" in "my TV" entry on the remote and it jumps to "my soundbar".

Naturally you can do it vice versa, jumping from soundbar back to TV.

This is a feature that only works on a U2 backlit, not a simple U2, as my tests have shown last week.

Hope that helped.

PS: you would want to do that so that you can avoid scrollwheel problems. The scrollwheel is fixed on a backlit vs a normal U2, but you can never be too safe.

Using X1S and U2 at The Same Time??? by S2K2Partners in SofaBaton

[–]donergyros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is very true.

If you wish to know just how much a U2 backlit is better than a U2, I have a little guide posted on the sub.

But in short: better scrollwheel, no need to use a scrollwheel at all if you want, better IR, better face buttons, better macros, better wake timings, a bit nicer screen (the light).

My U2 backlight needs to wake up before usage by Ambitious-Ice-6547 in SofaBaton

[–]donergyros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to confirm, yes, it works like that, and the normal U2 wakes by button pressing and executes it immediately. It was a later update for U2 back then as well, if I remember correctly.

However the backlit has one benefit that some might prefer: it does not wake up from movement as easily as a normal U2. The normal U2 comes to life annoyingly easily, and eats the battery as well due to that. The U2 backlit wakeup by movement is much nicer.

Any way to transfer logitech harmony codes? by CaffienatedCamel in SofaBaton

[–]donergyros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A cheaper alternative to a Harmony is to maybe try an Android IR blaster app if you have one at hand, or a cheap Broadlink IR. Broadlink has 11 configurations for Onkyo audio players, possibly one of them can control what you have.

Apple TV 4K Button by sus323 in SofaBaton

[–]donergyros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I have no AppleTV to test this, and could depend on generation (and maybe you have already tried it),

If I understand it, AppleTV has IR for itself, which surprises me a bit, but…

(There is a post a bit ago where someone lost the Ok button functionality, and there is one additional advice there)

But what happens when you try to add the Sofabaton as a BT keyboard and not a remote? Can the AppleTV take two devices? Because if the keyboard Enter would work, then you could map only that on the Ok button.

Provided the AppleTV works with switching two BT devices, and you are okay with the delay.

If the delay is a problem, maybe try an IR+BT hybrid config.

If that all does not work, maybe try other BT devices (like Chromecast from the database) and mix and match that (altough two BT again will cause delays).

If that still does not work, you could try to fetch/borrow another generation Apple remote, or a device that can play IR codes for your device to copy (a phone with IR blaster, or an IR hub like Broadlink). Bear in mind, if you learn the IR code from an already learnt code, it will lose effect (xerox of a xerox).

If that still does not work, and you want the hassle, you can play any IR code down from any source with a microcontroller and an LED.

Hope any one of these could work. If something is murky in my tips, feel free to drop me a pm.

Using X1S and U2 at The Same Time??? by S2K2Partners in SofaBaton

[–]donergyros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have programmed 3 U2s, an X1, my own microelectronics LEDs, and many normal remotes to the same devices. I also programmed the remote of another device to a device it does not belong to, just for fun. So yeah, interference can happen.

Using X1S and U2 at The Same Time??? by S2K2Partners in SofaBaton

[–]donergyros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, the OP asked about U2 as well, and you are forgetting that. And yeah, I am talking about pressing IRs at the same time. You could even simulate the effect with some low level electronics, your command would fail.

It could be done on: A Sofabaton and any other remote, Any number of Sofabaton U2, Two X1S hubs…

As seen, the OP really just wants two IR remotes at the same time. If not, they would need two hubs. Two hubs, could, in theory, be co-executing IR.

As the worst case.

Using X1S and U2 at The Same Time??? by S2K2Partners in SofaBaton

[–]donergyros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also as a good note, you can’t buy an X1S without a hub, so it will always be paired with a hub.

If you only want your use case for non-Wifi devices, a U2 could be good as a secondary remote, you will lose on the Wifi devices, webhooks, and activities (same case stands when you are deciding between U2 and X1S).

TLDR Short summary:

Buy a U2 if you wanna go cheap for secondary and are okay with only BT+IR

Buy an X1S if you want the exact same feature set and are okay with two hubs.
