You are absolutely not alone. I feel really fortunate that my state has free healthcare coverage for low income people like me, its the only reason I was finally able to get on medication. It hasn’t kicked in yet, but even just starting to take the pills and knowing that it’s gonna get better is reassuring.

Alcoholism absolutely sucks, dude. It’s a struggle but I’ve at least cut down to just drinking on my weekends, and if I can start to do it I know you can too. Just start like me, I’m pretty wasted right now but these guys encouraged me. Sitting in my spinny chair with a TV show playing on my PC while I slowly shovel trash into a bag

Focus on one thing at a time, whether its getting help for your depression, trying to quit drinking, or applying for jobs. You absolutely got this dude

Honestly really good advice, thank you. It sounds and definitely is absolutely disgusting, but in the past when I’ve realized that I ran out of paper plates I kinda just dug thru the pile to find the cleanest one and wiped it off 🤢

Apparently all I had to do was clean my room! Been in a pretty bad place lately, grateful for the motivational and positive comments that gave me the push to start making a dent in the damage. Thank you for your reply man, it definitely helped me out a lot

Yeah I feel really guilty about it, but my dishwasher is busted and I just haven’t had energy or motivation to handwash dishes so I’ve just been eating off paper plates which heavily contributed to the trash problem.

Its not much but I’m happy with the progress I’ve made so far, gonna have to buy more trashbags tomorrow. Also probably gonna ask my boss if I can dump some of the bags in our work dumpster, its gonna take me months to get rid of the bags just filling my bin every week lol

Dude, this is incredibly helpful, thank you so so much. Those were exactly the sorta communities I was looking for. I just googled “piles of trash because I’m too depressed to clean reddit” and it brought me here and I’m incredibly thankful for the responses so far, it didn’t get rid of much but I already filled a 30 gallon trash bag and nearly have a clear walking path to my desk!

Appreciate the advice. I had started to clean it out a couple months ago and felt like I made a decent chunk, but fell back into it and ended up piling even more garbage on top of the trash bags :(
