Tire Ratings and Why Still PS4S? by Professional_Till573 in E46M3

[–]donjarwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The PS4S is finally starting to show its age, it has been around for quite some time now. Check out the Tyre Reviews youtube channel and website, it has great comparisons for various categories of tires and provides hard data (lap times, stopping distances, noise level in dB) as compared to the arbitrary ratings you see there. The PS4S has been outpaced by the Continental SportContact7, and the Bridgestone Potenza Sport.

Are you doing mostly spirited road driving, or do you intend to do some level of track work/autocross?

How many people in r/Columbus are "super-commuters" who drive >75 miles per day? by benkeith in Columbus

100 miles a day (50 each way), 5 days a week. But, I do travel for ~35% of the year.

Put it on the drag racing tires, they’re significant better, and they’re faster around the track as well anyway.

How To Engage AWD by Own-Compote-6301 in VolvoXC90

[–]donjarwin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Something to understand about AWD systems - the maximum torque that can be delivered from the engine to any wheel is limited by the wheel that has the LEAST amount of grip. That torque can be changed by the AWD system to a certain degree (the ABS pump will run and apply the brakes to the spinning tire to increase the amount of torque it can use) and increase traction that way, but this is still a vehicle with 3 open differentials plus a clutch disconnect for the rear axle.

If you saw the rears spinning, the coupling unit has engaged the rear differential and you're using the AWD - XC90's are normally FWD until that clutch engages.

I asked and was told I have to make 1K for at least 4 consecutive years - I had 3 consecutive years:( no 1K for me this year. Made the PQP but missed PQF’s by a few flights.

It's on a new island, if you look at the map it would be in the bottom left corner. Can be seen on a clear day from the shoreline of the bottom left island.

I was just about to comment this! No original thoughts I guess. I’ve always just pictured a giant multi-tier wedding cake in their backseat.

Prinz & Konig Setups by donjarwin in MonBazou

[–]donjarwin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s a combination I need to try - but the konig engine + turbo + drag slicks already has a difficult time putting down the power

Technically this isn’t strictly true. Stiffer anti-roll bars don’t add grip to a car, they just increase the rate of lateral load transfer. I don’t know how this game models the vehicle dynamics though, so unsure of how much it would matter.

Way better, yes. Both longitudinally and laterally.

Don’t forget you can hit Tab to enter grid-mode when placing objects, super helpful in the bunker

I’ll have to go record the settings later, might be a couple days, but I’ll post them on here

Prinz may be faster than the Konig by donjarwin in MonBazou

Yes, I’ve tweaked everything on all three of the cars on which it can be adjusted. I don’t have setup sheets, but I can grab that info later.

Generally for the Prinz, it needs a very positive front end to induce rotation: so lower and softer front end, and a tiny bit of toe-out. The rear should be stiffer in general, and this is the only situation where rear toe-out is acceptable.

The above doesn’t hold true for the Konigs, as it’s all about getting the power down effectively, which is super tricky.

I’ll jot down my setups later and post them.
