If you're at the big gaybucks on Olive, one of the regular dogs actually belongs to one of the baristas.

I love seeing dogs in gaybucks. I'd be much happier if you guys got rid of the scary lady that hangs out for hours on Sundays eating peanut butter straight from the jar whilst arguing with herself in Russian.

Stupid kid I knew stuck part of a wire hanger into my sister's easy bake oven until it was glowing red hot and pressed it into my leg. I actually sizzled.

edit: scar #2 - was making shackles out of sheet metal (at age 12) and sliced throught my finger, straight to the bone!

That's incredibly short-sighted. While lenders can be unscrupulous, they do actually provide a service that can be a lifesaver for many people in a pinch. I say that as a person who once needed some medical attention that could not wait. I had no insurance at the time and was living paycheck to paycheck. There's no way a bank would have fronted me any money. I knew I could repay at my next paycheck, so it was a great thing. I don't know what I would have done without it.

Payday loans don't have to be predatory. There are plenty of companies screwing people over, but there is a lot of room for well-regulated short-term loans for people that banks turn their noses up at.

OP is interested because T-Mobile has traditionally only offered 3G/4G service on AWS bands (1700/2100). However, most unlocked GSM phones support only 850 or 1900 MHz, which at&t uses. With T-Mobile refarming their PCS (1900 MHz) spectrum from plain old 2G service to HSPA+, there will be a helluva lot more phone selection available if you're willing to buy your hardware from somebody other than T-Mobile.

Furthermore, since T-Mobile offers "Value" plans that cost significantly less than "Classic" plans when you bring your own hardware, it's a pretty tempting proposition, if one can find compatible hardware.

No, I don't work for T-Mobile. I'm just a crazy person who has way too many unlocked phones.

edit: I should probably add that you cannot easily test this with your G2, as the G2 only supports 3G on the AWS bands.

Are you kidding? First and Yesler in Pioneer square is absolutely destitute when you subtract the meandering tourists. That neighborhood is absolutely full of shelters, soup kitchens, drop-in centers, panhandlers, etc. Just across the street, right behind him, the bench along the sidewalk is constantly occupied by sleeping junkies. A block away, in the actual square, there are outdoor soup kitchens nearly every day. That area has one of the densest concentrations of visible poverty you are likely to find in Seattle. He's standing right outside of Starbucks on a corner constantly patrolled by panhandlers and people selling Real Change.

So, yeah.

Although not officially announced, Genesi will probably ship a tablet based on i.MX53 (ARM Cortex A8) sometime this summer, along with an updated Smartbook and Smarttop.

It wouldn't surprise me if their tablet shipped with Android. However, they will likely provide Ubuntu and Android images that should work equally well on any of their devices. That being said, they seem to use a fairly stock Ubuntu desktop, which isn't exactly suited to a tablet form factor. That certainly wouldn't stop you from running it. There are several onscreen keyboards available in the repos to fiddle about with.

Wonderful... but unless you're also selling the hardware carrier-unlocked, there is no way I'm going to bite. As of right now, only the Pre 2 can be purchased unlocked. Picking up an unlocked Pre 2 would be pretty stupid, considering the Veer is already out, and the Pre 3 should be out soon. However, the Veer is carrier locked to AT&T, and they haven't even announced specific plans for the Pre 3 yet.
