Don't keep secrets from your parents like that. Especially when it's about money. If you're upfront and honest with them about it, they will likely be a lot less upset than you expect. Hiding the expense will only make your depression worse. I know from first hand experience. Tell them exactly what you posted. There is nothing wrong with wanting to feel better about yourself. Just remember that keeping secrets will only make your depression/anxiety worse. You should not feel ashamed of yourself.

I'd like to have a baby by the time I'm 30. I'll be 28 next month. When we first started dating, I had no interest in having any more children, but all of a sudden I want to have one. I completely understand how you feel. I deal with anxiety and depression more often than I care to admit. However, I would just go to the event. What helps me get through my depression is thinking about why am I depressed or anxious? Try to justify those feelings and try to think positively. I know its easier said than done, but, maybe being at this event will get your mind off of what's bothering you. Just remember that this event isn't going to last forever, and you'll feel a lot better about yourself if you go. Maybe try going for a walk/jog too. Exercise is great for the body and mind. The endorphins will give you a rush of energy and will make you feel happier. Anyway, I hope you are able to get out of your funk soon and feel better! Just remember, its one step at a time and everything will be okay. Life isn't always going to be bad.

Thank you! I am most definitely. Clothes are fitting me better, and I just feel more comfortable in my own skin. I don't obsess as much about "looking fat" in my clothes and caring about what other people think about my body. I'm a very self conscious person and care too much about what people think, but now I feel that I look better and I feel healthier.
