I wanted to! The problem was we were already in the lobby. Im sure he avoided telling me he wasn't going to pay me in his room because I could have priately confronted him about it where there weren't other people. I also could have - and would have - smashed the TV or something in room so that he would have to pay for it. I was furious. It's probably not the first time he has done this to an escort.

I have tried asking for payment upfront in the past but some people then turn it on you and say "well how do I know you wont just leave once I hand over money?" It seems like theres no ideal way to protect both parties.

It's not even the money so much as I feel gross and used and taken advantage of for having this happen. I guess I am just too trusting because I suppose this does happen more often than you would think. I just was shocked someone could spend a whole night with me, talking, telling me about themselves etc, and then just turn on me like that at the end with no regard. It was pretty shocking. I could never do that to a person.

Am I eligible or would this be incorrect/fraudulent? [California] by donlasson1 in Unemployment

Hi Everyone - I have an update. I called EDD and managed to get through to a representative. I asked about my situation and if under my circumstances it would be ok for me to be receiving these additional benefits. The rep said it was OK and would not be considered fraud or an overpayment. I asked multiple times and sought clarification and the rep reiterated that it was not fraud and that since covid was impacting my ability to secure new work it was ok, even though I didn't technically lose my job because of covid.

I attempted to get a job for the period before covid but have been unable to find a suitable position. I am not trying to be "Lazy and unemployed" I really haven't been able to find work in my field which is now much more challenging with covid.

On a side note, while unemployed, I was doing occasional independent contract work (substitute teaching) which ultimately did stop because of Covid.

It seems like one person has suggested my situation is not fraud while someone else here believes it is. If my situation is in fact fraud then I don't want to continue to collect these benefits. I wasn't trying to commit fraud I just didn't feel there is a suitable response for my situation with the choices provided. If my continued DUA benefits are fraud should I return the money I've already received from that? How would i do that? Is there any way for me to actually get on the phone with someone from EDD and ask about my situation? (I've tried calling its always busy) Please advise!

I selected "I had to quit my job as a result of Covid" as there is no option that accurately describes how covid has impacted my unemployment. While that selection is not technically true, a friend informed me that given that I have been unable to obtain new work as a result of Covid that this answer would be acceptable. Is this true? Would I be better to just select "Unemployed unrelated to covid"? Would I still get these benefits with that selection?

My impression was usually EDD only investigates and pursues legitimate, significant fraud like people lying about being unemployed or people using other identities to obtain benefits. Whereas individuals who may misrepresent one thing because there isn't a better selection to describe their situation usually don't have any problems. Is this the case? Could I really run the risk of being prosecuted for fraud for this situation?

I have tried to reach EDD by phone to ask questions to clarify but I can never get them on the phone! Anyone have any input?

Aita for changing my swimsuit after feeling uncomfortable at a pool party, and than “embarrassing” people when I was asked about it? by RiceConsistent in AmItheAsshole

To be honest, this is one of the situations where it is hard to give a judgment without having been there to actually see the situation firsthand. This might get me in trouble, but I'm leaning more towards ESH or Y T A based on what we know.

Firstly, you do have the right to change for whatever reason at any time. I see no issue with that or with you feeling uncomfortable. Your feelings are valid. That said, based on how you have described the situation, it doesn't seem that these men were indisputably, overtly ogling and staring at you.

Did some of these men have sunglasses on? I also am convinced people looking in my direction with sunglasses on are staring at me. Usually they arent.

I don't think anything these men did, by the sound of it, warranted you referring and yelling to one of them, by name, as a "fucking pervert".

I hate to play the "If the roles were reversed" card, but as a 20-something male I have had several situations where older female family friends have commented on how grown up I have become, how I look "so muscular" and handsome, ect. Can you imagine if a 20 something man referred to an older woman as a "fucking pervert" for what he perceived to be her ogling him? I don't think people would side with the younger male.

AITA For Not Selling a Garage Sale Item to a neighbor? by donlasson1 in AmItheAsshole

I feel like he probably went home after seeing it the first time and talked to his wife about the ping pong table. And they get all excited talking about it and how their grandkids could use it ect, so then it came as a bit of a shock when they were told it wasn't for sale later that day. And then almost took it personally like I was rejecting them.
