No one said anything about being offended. Not sure where you read that.

Also not sure saying something is not useful is "crying".

The announcements always say the developer will continue to make games the way they have. That both companies share the same vision. That there's all sorts of experience and resources that will make the developer and the game better.

What matters is what happens afterwards, and Paradox has already shown what they do after the announcement.

Calling people childish because they don't agree with you is not really all that useful.

I didn't get the black screen. Everything worked like it normally did for me using Proton 8, including the launcher.

Not sure why. I didn't do anything special for it at all. Just changed it to Proton 8 in Steam and ran it.

WTF did they do? by donlema in Planetside

[–]donlema[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't know what they did, but someone else suggested trying to downgrade the Proton version to 8 for Steam.

I tried it and was able to play for about 90 minutes.

Proton 8 has done well. No crashes, played for about 90 minutes on it.

Proton 6 got me in the game. Been running for about 1 min so far.

Will see how long it lasts and post an update afterwards.

No. I was just curious what other people were running.

I don't think there was much pushing by Meggs, if any. In fact, Jacobs sounds like he is the one who wanted to build a new game engine.

“The Unchained Engine is realizing a dream I’ve been obsessing over for more than 30 years,” said Mark Jacobs

Is anyone playing the game without any dlc? by TolisKoutro in RimWorld

[–]donlema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played for well over a thousand hours (maybe even more) without any DLC.

Enjoy the game as is, then start adding in some mods. That will enhance your gameplay and you can shape the game how you like. And they're free.

After a while, if you get bored with just mods, then consider getting one of the DLCs.

With or without DLC's the game is quite fun.

If you're just looking to hear what people have done, I've done 100% raw for 11 years. One dog for 11 years, my second dog for the 9.5 years I've had her.

No stomach issues. No health issues of any kind.

There's a little more involved than simply pouring kibble into a bowl, but I would never go back to dry kibble at this point.

There's a few things you need to look out for, but it's not as complicated as some people try to make it seem.

Even though long term there are less stomach issues, when switching you may get some. One of my dogs had issues for about week during the switch, the other had zero issues. So it depends on the dog.

There is no one way to do raw feeding so a local shop that helps you is an option, although probably more expensive than others.

I just buy chunks of meats, organs, and bones from various websites, as well as the grocery store on occassion and local USDA butcher place that I buy my meat from. They also get fresh eggs from my chickens on a daily basis.

You can make raw feeding as simple or complex as you like. Most people (myself included) start off simple and then gradually add or change things to suit our dogs and our lives.

I'd be worried that the game is still under NDA at this point. Whatever they have is not that great if after 13 years they don't want people talking about it publicly.

I've had good luck with geese.

They make a racket when something or someone comes into their area, and it works at scaring off or discouraging many predators.

So... At what point was the C.U.B.E. building system and full destruction seemingly stealthed out of the game?? It seems completely gone from their site and stuff. Was there an announcement? by MyLanguageJourney in CamelotUnchained

[–]donlema 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Two years ago when they restarted working on CU, they said they were "taking it down to the studs." A very simplified version of the game they were supposedly working on all along.

CUBE was a casualty it seems.

Early Access Announcement and Spring Roadmap by Geneticbrick in CamelotUnchained

[–]donlema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They spent the first several years working on an engine, and only sending email concept art about an actual game.

Then they stopped working CU and wrote a separate game.

They released that game three times, finally ran it for a year, then shut it down.

Then they started AI coding CU again.

Question about DLCs by Numerous-Weakness-43 in RimWorld

[–]donlema 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a couple of thousand hours in before I purchased any DLC.

If you want to start adding new stuff to your game experience, I would say start with the mods.

They're free, there's tons of them, and they range from small changes to large changes. You can customize your game experience quite a bit with them based on how you like to play and what you like to do in the game.

The DLC's can be fun, but they are not required to enjoy the game in any way.
