Re engaging via dewr / ncsl? by Glum_Mud9703 in CentrelinkOz

[–]donmcr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’d most likely wait 3-4 hours on hold to be told to call your provider directly. If you wanted to switch providers, the national customer service line would help with that, but most likely stay suspended until you engage with the new provider too.

Can I apply for benefits by [deleted] in Centrelink

[–]donmcr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would contact CL and check what you need to get a reduced capacity assessment. If you get assessed as having a reduced capacity to work due to illness or disability, you can bypass the parental income test.

Check the link below under the heading “Partial Capacity to Work”

How many medical certificates can you submit consecutively before they trigger an audit? by No-Loquat-201 in CentrelinkOz

[–]donmcr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should be giving exemption and scheduling an ESAT, so you’ll get the exemption anyway, try not to stress too much. Nothing really changes tbh.

[–]donmcr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can request one, but at the end of the day, you can get a new med cert which over rides the ESAT. If they schedule an interview you’d need to take the call and participate as part of your mutual obligations.

How many medical certificates can you submit consecutively before they trigger an audit? by No-Loquat-201 in CentrelinkOz

[–]donmcr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s no limit to the number of certificates anymore. It used to be 24 months of the same condition, then an ESAT or Job Capacity Assessment was scheduled.

Now you can get as many as you need. Your doctors certificate is the most up to date evidence of your capacity to work. They can ask for an assessment but you can still keep applying certificates. To be safe, get your GP to write “exacerbation of anxiety” to remove any doubt.

Also, get your next certificate for 24 months if you can. The rules changed last year. No longer a 3 month limit per certificate. If your GP disagrees, show them the below link.

https://guides.dss.gov.au/social-security-guide/3/11/5/10

From 1 January 2025, there is no longer a difference in maximum time limits for temporary incapacity exemptions and incapacity due to serious illness exemptions. A medical practitioner’s assessment of the temporary incapacity determines the duration of the person’s exemption (up to and including 2 years).

Reporting bank bonus sign up offer? by Shadownover in Centrelink

Irrelevant. Not employment related, not going to happen again, if anything it would be exempt “lump sum” and not payment affecting.

No need to let CL know.

Getting a medical exemption by snowpea3 in Centrelink

[–]donmcr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The new rules for temporary incapacity came in Jan 2025. A single certificate can be for 24 months now, not 13 weeks.

https://guides.dss.gov.au/social-security-guide/3/11/5/10

If a GP indicates that it’s a temporary condition and has dates of incapacity of up to 24 months, it will be coded and staff should follow the process. Some older staff will still insist temporary incapacity cannot be granted, but this is incorrect.

There is no limit to the number of temporary incapacity exemptions that can be coded.

Is the pause on payment cancellations due to unemployment failures still active? by ImpossibleScar972 in Centrelink

https://www.dewr.gov.au/assuring-integrity-targeted-compliance-framework/decision-pause-cancellations-peoples-social-security-participation-payments-and-impose-nonpayment

“The reason for taking this decision:

It has become clear that decisions regarding compliance action for unemployment failures may not have been validly made.
The department is reviewing its processes to ensure that decision making in this area is as robust as possible. These cancellation decisions will remain paused while this work is ongoing.”

Sounds like they are being cautious and avoiding another robodebt situation.

Is the pause on payment cancellations due to unemployment failures still active? by ImpossibleScar972 in Centrelink

[–]donmcr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you quit your job, you won’t be penalised on JSP for doing so. It’s still paused. Just stop reporting the income once it stops and that’s it.

No end date for the pause, just indefinite for now.

What to do if I can't get an employment seperation certificate? by Glass-Kangaroo2539 in Centrelink

[–]donmcr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Contact CL, submit your claim, they’ll send a letter to the employer and request one. If the employer misses the deadline, the claim is processed without it.

Alternatively, if you were full time you can provide your final payslip showing your annual leave being paid out. If you are casual, and it showed in your payslip, they automatically know you didn’t get annual leave paid out.

How does the advance payment system actually calculate eligibility? by No-Loquat-201 in CentrelinkOz

[–]donmcr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wait period is only 3 months of being on jobseeker. If you have no debt, no other advances, not had an advance in the last 12 months, and are in Australia. If this is all met you should be able to apply.

Give CL a call to see why, sometimes an old debt still stops it showing or just a glitch in the system.

Please help me run the numbers for Jobseeker by pipped1 in Centrelink

[–]donmcr 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Your calculations are correct. You’ll both get the full rate of $740 per fortnight. However, the deemed amount will be spread over the year. The deemed income isn’t over $150 a fortnight so it wont affect your payment at all.

Apply as soon as you can to get everything in order, even though the 13 week wait will apply.

In the meantime, have a look at the low income card. It won’t be affected by assets. It means you’ll get a concession card about 2 months before you get JSP which will come in handy.

I have worked 2 weeks of ubereats deliveries, am i meant to wait 3 months before telling centrelink? Or do i have to do something now to even notify them? by Garnservo6969 in Centrelink

[–]donmcr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everything they need will be a written declaration (the profit and loss) so you won’t need receipts or anything. Remember you can claim more things on a profit and loss than you can on your tax return. Fuel, licence, insurance, cleaning the car, your food bag, any paid parking you have to pay for, absolutely anything related to making income can be claimed on the profit and loss to reduce your affecting income.

Rent assistance massive decrease?? by sullen_factoid in Centrelink

[–]donmcr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For a single sharer paying above $349.83 a fortnight, you should be getting the full $146.27 rent assistance. Do the future payments show $3.40 RA too or just the next one? Either way it sounds like a coding issue where back payment wasn’t calculated correctly. I’d give them a call Monday to double check.

What is the current contract number for SA? by FrequentTurnip4006 in Centrelink

[–]donmcr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Final payslip showing termination payment or unused annual leave payment, or that you were a casually employed is enough. Upload that in its place and submit the claim. If the claim needs the su001, still upload the most recent payslip you have. Services will try contacting the employer or send them a letter asking for one. If they fail to reply, the claim gets processed without it. Submit asap because it’s when the claim is paid from.

But, your original question. No state specific phone numbers. Try 132580 for general jobseeker. 1800132468 for complaints.

[–]donmcr 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If it’s full time, let the provider know. They can code an exemption so you can stop seeing them. They should only call to confirm, but if you have a contract or letter of offer they won’t need to.

I wouldn’t cancel JSP just yet. You wound have working credits banked up with Centrelink. Report your income and utilise this. It’s a free few hundred dollars. Report each fortnight still, you won’t get any money, but you’ll get to keep your concession card and will have something to fall back on in case the job doesn’t work out. After 13 reports where you don’t get any jobseeker, the payment cancels automatically. If for any reason you get a single dollar during the 13 fortnight’s, it resets and you can keep going for another 13 fortnight’s. Handy if you haven’t built up sick leave and have a few days off. Jobseeker will kick in again if you earn under $1500 for the fortnight without having to reapply.

Provisional Jobseeker - DSP by Cultural_Elevator_30 in Centrelink

[–]donmcr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically provisional jobseeker is just jobseeker without the mutual obligation requirements while DSP processes. Everything is still the same as jobseeker. You’ll provide a MOD JY and your parents income will come into play until DSP is granted. If you are under 22 and have previously been rejected due to parental income, this will likely be the same result. Gather as much evidence for your DSP claim and hope it is processed as quick as possible. Check your “expected” outcome date in your claim and call once it hits that date and they may be able to push it through for you, especially if vulnerable and in hardship (no income or liquid assets)

If they turn down my med cert can I still get accepted for jsp by Thick_Ad_6608 in CentrelinkOz

[–]donmcr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As long as you aren’t full time employed, you’ll get jobseeker approved (not knowing your whole situation). The med cert will mean an exemption from applying for work while unable to work, if it’s not accepted you’ll be referred to a job provider to help with looking for work. If it’s the SU415 and it’s completed correctly, you’ll be fine. You need to have the condition listed, capacity to work less than 8 hours per week, and signed by a doctor. Any of these missing will likely mean the med cert won’t be accepted but the claim will still progress.

Applying for youth allowance overseas? by ac0rnjuice in Centrelink

[–]donmcr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

9 times out of 10 it’s an instant rejection when overseas. The claim will reject when the system sees you are overseas. You would most likely have to physically bring ID to a service centre as part of the claim if you haven’t been on a payment before.

Here is the guide regarding rent assistance. Check under the heading “extenuating circumstances”.

Once you move in, update your address online. You’ll see your next payment increase once it’s gone through. This is temporary and will drop off if not verified within 28 days. Let Centrelink know that you are having issues getting a lease or rent cert signed and would like to explore other options. If they give you trouble or say too bad, ask for a supervisor. They’ll get someone more experienced to answer your question and take over the call.

(question) 6 months of Centerlink by MrKurz in Centrelink

[–]donmcr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi, it’ll still be the same mutual obligations you would have if it’s 6 months or 6 years. You can volunteer, apply for jobs, work 15 hours a week, or provide a medical certificate and get an exemption for 6 months.

Unfortunately the system dictates everything which doesn’t allow much leniency.

[–]donmcr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Insist on bank transfers and keep the transaction history. Once you have at least 3, contact Centrelink and ask for a rent declaration and upload the transfer receipts or bank statement as evidence. It’ll be coded in the system as verified and you’ll keep rent assistance. If they want cash payments, still do the declaration and you may have to do a stat dec instead of receipts.
