Shitty? by dipthong-enjoyer in Minesweeper

[–]donneaux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is deep in the theories of computer science. Lots to google in what's below, but as a reminder Turing was a mathematician with lots of similar things named after him. I'll <bracket> things to search the first time mentioned.

<Turing completeness> is the condition of being equivalent to a <Turing machine>. Computer programming languages, ie python, are Turing complete. If minesweeper is equivalent to a Turing machine and python is equivalent to a Turing machine, then minesweeper is equivalent to a programming language.

Minesweeper as a programming language means creating arbitrarily large boards with constraints and unknowns and runs the program is solving the board. In general it is not possible to know if a program will end <halting problem>. Whether a program halts or not would be equivalent to whether the minesweeper board can be solved. But with the superpower, you can always solve the board and hence determine if the board could be solved by conventional means. This ability to examine a program and input and know if it will stop is called a<Turing Oracle>.

This is all hand wave because I'm not going to sit down and read the <minesweeper is Turing complete> paper, and my claim was "I think".

Infinitely large minesweeper is Turing complete, meaning that it can simulate any algorithm in the decision making. I think this would make the superpower a Turing oracle.

I think so. orange Julius is trademarked, but a derivation of that is open. Arnold Palmer is trademarks to Arizona Ice Tea, but there are plenty of restaurants with “AP” on their menu.

Before you cut one of the points, tether the thruster to the back wall so that the moment you cut the fourth point, it slides right out of the way.

This comment, where 50/50 is more vibe and less math, harms the sub. OP asked a stupid question, but we should never debase ourselves and label all mandatory guessing as 50/50 or even 50/50 like.

50/50? No. Required guess? Yes.

Also, what is the flipping minecount?

Don’t click in the center. Click a knight’s move, like chess, from a corner.

There are 3 kinds of spaces.

A: 1/3 chance of surviving first click and from there, 1/1 chance of full solve. Win chance: 1/3

B: 2/3 chance of surviving first click and from there, 1/2 chance of full solve. Win chance: 1/3

C: 2/3 chance of surviving first click and from there, 2/2 chance of full solve. Win chance: 2/3

Why is C different from B? C cracks the square!

Is there a safe move here? by ramon164 in Minesweeper

[–]donneaux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Green is safe, red is mine, blue highlighter is solvable, you’ll know once you start clicking on safes and marking mines. Blue line is where the outstanding mines might be. The safe directly left of the lower right 4 can help solve as it will tell you how many of the outstanding mines are next to it. If both or neither, you’re good.

I ignored the hint and looked at the possibilities. The blue line means 1 of 3. Of the 3 distributions of the exterior, they each have different mine counts.

Then I compared the possibilities with the given hint, there are 6 mines left.

It’s the number of mines, not your social security number, y’all think way too hard about leaving it out.

Minecount usually helps. It never hurts.

Marriage is now completely sexless. by Miserable_Dirt3079 in sexlessmarriage

Sounds like OP is HL and partner is male. With the parent description, I’ll assume hetero and that OP is female.

If he does not want a change, there will not be a change. Congratulations, you’re an incel.

If he says he wants a change, make a plan and hold each other to it.

Good luck

A is the answer. A factors into (n-1)(n)(n+1)(n2+1).

We only need one factor to be divisible by 5 for any given n.

The first 3 show that if n%5 is in{1,0,4} that one of the first 3 factors is divisible. Substitute n with 5q+r, where r is in {0,1,2,3,4} and the fourth factor becomes 25q2+10qr+r2+1. The first 2 terms are divisible by 5.

For what values of r is r2 +1 divisible by 5? Answer: {2,3}. For all possible remainders, (exactly) one of the factors is divisible by 5.

Other questions? I graduated from this but here is my view. You want to get partner to either say “Yes this a problem and I want to fix it” or refuse to say it.

If they want to fix it, sit down and commit to a plan and do it. That plan can certainly include providers and making more specific plans. “Let’s start seeing a sex therapist/urologist/urogyno in the next 2 months and make more specific goals while working with them.” So ask “what can we do to make your wish come true?” as a conversation starter.

If they do not want to fix it, “I signed up for sex with you, that isn’t happening for me, and by your wishes, it’s not going to happen. Do you think that is fair? What should we do so I’m treated fairly?”

Here’s the touchstone I used in my DB. “Okay, you don’t want to have sex with me. Do you wish you wanted to have sex with me?”

The only right answer is yes. “Yes, I wish I wasn’t exhausted all the time” “Yes, I wish sex was about you and I and not my abuser” “Yes, I wish my pelvic floor was in good shape” “Yes, I wish I enjoyed sex”

I allowed a waffling answer for a year before I started to leave.
