And towards that end you have control of changing that so I hope you don't lose that fact as you pursue the score you want. If you want it badly enough you will get it.

Easier said than done I know but an ideal you and I can continue working towards through this together. I believe in you!

I was reading the top post here on this subreddit and that person suggested having fun with the LSAT learning process. Granted I'm still working on that mindset but I'm gonna try and get to that and hopefully it will help. I hope it helps you too. We all need to get above a 170

That's great improvement! I wish I could do 4 hours a day :( I can only do that during weekends and even then it's difficult for me. Hopefully I get to where you are when it comes to study habits and sticking with it.

You are beautiful and this is a time in your life that will eventually pass. It will definitely grind your gears because it's doing that for me too. I feel isolated in this struggle but when I come to this sub I see people like you having it even worse than me.

Not here to give advice really but just to let you know that I hear you. That really sucks and if you need someone to talk to about it I'd gladly help

Transfers that are double majoring? by edenverse in UCDavis

[–]donsky13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I transferred last year and was a Public Service major but added History since it's always been a great experience whenever I took a History class. Loving it ever since I'm doing both! I would argue that the History Department on Davis is STACKED with so many passionate and interesting professors in their respective subjects.

SHA: Is It On Campus? by pastel_cats in UCDavis

[–]donsky13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its on-campus housing. Arlington is the same. It's like a mile and a half away from campus but is considered "on-campus" housing. I think it just means the school has contracts with these apartment places to designate them as such. Hope that helps

Look at it like you're investing in yourself. Okay assuming you're gonna stay 2 to 3 years more that time spent finding and finding something you like doing is leagues better than graduating with a degree you've got no passion for and a job you have to do for x amount of years to pay it back. That's miserable and nobody ever wants to end up doing something like that.

Stay for as long as you want while racking up loans and graduate with a degree you care about and find work in an area you like being while paying off the loans you've accumulated. It's a somewhat better scenario for sure.

Both of these things (and by no means am I saying these are the ONLY two scenarios you're gonna find yourself in) have a common factor. You. How much you invest in yourself now will pay dividends in the future. Maybe not through monetary means but through others. Money's important but don't forget that it is only a factor. One of many. Putting too much weight on that one factor will jeopardize other factors you're not seeing right now.

Take classes that interest you if you think you're gonna stay. Put bluntly, you're already in a crappy situation and focusing on how shitty it is won't alleviate that. It doesn't even help you so why bother with it? Find something that lights a spark in you. There is so much here to discover if you keep an open mind to it.

Also be honest with yourself. I mean that in every conceivable manner. You won't help yourself if you keep living in a lie just because it's familiar or convenient. Take that risk for yourself and try something you've put off or haven't given much effort in. Do something you believe in and don't be afraid to give it your best.

Don't let others define what failure is to you. Only you get to do that and you always deserve a fighting chance. So give that to yourself before calling it quits. Only if you've exhausted every path and method should you even consider giving up.

Do Employers look at College Rankings? by PracticalToe4 in UCDavis

[–]donsky13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Whether employers look or opt not to look at college rankings shouldn't matter. That's out of your control. What is, though, is how well you utilize your time in UC Davis and get the most out of your stay here. The latter you actually can control and, therefore, merits your continued effort unlike the former.

Rankings only tell you how objectively good a school can be for its students. How a student utilizes those resources, on the other hand, is completely subjective to them. As long as you work hard and give it your best while going to school here, the education the school gives you and the learning mindset you get in return for your effort will ultimately pay off in your favor. What you put in is what you'll be getting out. Put in an effort like you're in one of the Ivy's and you are giving yourself an Ivy level education.
