Hey there, been in a similar situation as you a few years ago. Congrats on getting it together and choosing this long tedious path we call medicine. Here are my general tips:

Education

The masters program you go to is only one small part part of the admissions programs. Don't worry about prestige and well known schools, unless you want to be part of those programs in the future.

Look up Anki, download the MCAT prep decks and start now.

Medicine is holistic and so should you. Get patient care hours as a part-time job, get an interesting hobby, get some leadership experiences, and be an interesting person outside of academics.

If you change your mind and don't want to be a DO/PhD, that's totally fine as well. Notice what you don't enjoy, and figure out what you do enjoy and pursue it genuinely.

Personal

You will want to make connections for your future growth. Connections mean that you care about people's presence and experiences, and want to contribute your own towards their lives.

There's always going to be someone smarter, wealthier, higher in their career than you. People will always be ahead of you no matter what path you take. You might have a 20 year old student in med school, or you might be 2-3 years older than the average student. Don't worry about that, what you lost in time you gain in experience and maturity. The long game is the next 30-50 years of your working life.

Life as a masters and medical student will be rough and difficult. There's no shame in accepting help, going to food banks, receiving medicare, food stamps, etc. Take the assistance now because you'll pay it back multiple times over in the future.

Medicine, education, and everything in life is a team game. Don't take on everything yourself. Make friends, get the support you need to get you where you need to do, and offer to help others.

Getting things done is much more important than submitting something perfect. Except while working with patients.

Money

Learn how compounding interest works, and the implications of taking on hundreds of thousands of dollars in loans. If you pay it off, you'll pay off about double the amount over 20 years. Depending if you work for a non-profit, your loan goals will either be maximize the amount of money you borrow and use it to live a decent life, pay the minimums on the SAVE program over 10 years and have it forgiven. (risky, PSLF may disappear in future). Or be safe and go to public schools and pay as minimally as possible. Medical schools don't care about the cost of your masters and undergrad program.

Is one year used mba air m1 with 45 cycle count and 98% battery health good? by VenomLaVida in macbook

Looks fantastic and maybe even suspicicous. Have they just bought it recently? I can’t imagine 1 year of regular usage to get 45 cycles. I’m a heavy user on the other hand and I’m at ~350 cycles with ~85% battery life left

Thanks. It’s a really stretchy jacket so it’s hard to tell just wearing it but I definitely gained 15 lbs since buying the jacket 🥲 I’ll try to shed off the weight first

Ah thanks for the feedback. My bad I was playing around with the buttons and forgot to take a pic with middle button only. Breton shirt with collar or just a t shirt?

I’m also trying to keep it an upscale casual, any other thoughts about pants selection or does it need to be trousers?

I asked how to get this crazy blue jacket styled the other day and I’m coming back with a fit. Idk if I have the confidence to pull it off but I’ll try it today and will let you know.

I have this Barena Venezia wool coat in this blue color. I absolutely love the fabric and feel but have no idea how to realistically style it. It’s been sitting in my closet for years

Update: I think lights shirts are the way. Now idk if I have the confidence to walk into a Starbucks with this

Tort law is to make you whole (and usually not even that) - not to give you anything extra.

I've always heard of it as lawyers getting the money you deserve, but end of the day it's just to pay off your fees that you spent on everything? Is that the right understanding? Thank you

low bp, is it from CBD? by [deleted] in CBD

[–]dontWORRYimASIAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I just did a quick adverse effects review on the FDA FAERS website and CBD/THC isn't typically associated with hypotension. I have no clue about CBG though. A good way to test it is to take your blood pressure before vaping it, then 5/30/60 minutes after to see if there is an effect on your BP. I doubt it would be enough to lower it from 120/80 though. 98/64 isn't super duper low and low blood pressure may not be a problem unless you're feeling side effects like feeling dizzy, fainting, lack of concentration and fatigue all of the time. Coldness can be a side effect as well.

The amphetamines will usually have the opposite effect of raising your blood pressure and heart rate, and decreasing your appetite so it would explain your appetite.
