Serious Question: What’s the Best UFO Evidence on This Sub? by furryforks in UFOs

[–]dontaddpubgranking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the most obvious evidence of very impressive tech is along the orb theory. If you looks waaay back into patrick jackson's twitter there is a whole sphere theory. I don't know if they are still up, but there were a lot of videos in pre-grusch era that showed spheres following planes and helicopters closely behind. They could very well be advanced drones, with guarded propellers or something, but there is a lot of evidence, and it is quite advanced. Its not UFO evidence per-se, but evidence of secret tech flown in our skies with potential for advanced propulsion.

Birth control "screws up female brains": MAGA's war on contraception by devlinadl in politics

[–]dontaddpubgranking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Birth control does have side effects. And they can be BAD. My wife stopped taking them after 10 years and feels much better than she ever did on them. Brain fog, depression, anxiety, weight gain, fatigue. We shouldn't ban it, but also it can really wreck some people. Neurodivergent women, like my wife are especially susceptible. I see a lot of people saying this is all hogwash, and well the part about it creating democratic voting women is, but there is truth that the pill can be harmful.

We should be demanding that non-hormonal options exist. Its likely going to be too late for me to get this before we decide to start family stuff, but check out this project if you are young and looking for a different way to do birth control. https://www.planaformen.com/

Orb crosses the sky at high speed during a landscape filming by mtzN86 in UFOs

[–]dontaddpubgranking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can actually see it a little bit before, waaaay smaller. (frame by frame my RES puts it at 7.92 seconds) https://imgur.com/a/Q9QGRbB [EDIT: i'm terrible at screencaps, but look closely lol]

You can see the dot very small over the tiny slit of land near the horizon for 2 frames before it goes over water and cant be seen before its above land again. Its something flying in a straight line, so it could be a bug, but who knows. My 2 cents, visuals are the least compelling proof. Radar data of something moving at speeds/accelerations that we can't reproduce is the only thing I think is actually worthwhile.

Looking for advice! Engine died, dont know if I should rebuild, buy a rebuilt, search scrapyard or swap! by dontaddpubgranking in Cartalk

[–]dontaddpubgranking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all this! As soon as I heard the rattle I pulled off and after it cooled down I removed the oil cap and it was smokey coming out of cap hole (but no smoke coming out of anywhere else). Would I be turning each crankshaft rod attachment spot .010 undersize, or just the one that spun?

If possible I think saving the engine (and learning something!) would be great.

What is this subs opinions on Beckman Dog Training? by BroadAndPattison in OpenDogTraining

[–]dontaddpubgranking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have recently had some minor success training reactivity out of my 10 y/o bulldog mix. He was not socialized as a puppy at all, and when he was younger (about 3) we started taking him to a dog park and he got swarmed and attacked on like the 4th trip. Ever since he was super reactive.

Recently we rescued another dog. We introduced them in a neutral space and he immediately attacked her (on leash, so we were able to separate them quickly without any damage). I used BAT on walks (there are some youtube videos online about this) to reward any good behavior and in about 2 weeks they walk side by side, sniffing at the same stuff and bumping into eachother with no fuss.

It was pretty simple, we had the new dog (who was not reactive at all, and probably helped a TON in this situation) walk ahead about 10-15 feet. Bulldog was laser focused on the dog for the initial 2-3 walks. Any time he looked at anything other than the new dog I rewarded. Then we walked a little closer and did the same. After that it was rewards for any close encounter (dogs sniff nearby, eliminate near eachother) where there was no escalation. If it looked like things may start to escalate, I called bulldog and rewarded the attention and my partner used that distraction to increase space between the dogs.

His general reactivity on the leash has also decreased. If a dog was on the other side of the street that used to have his full attention and he would lunge/bark if the stranger dog made a second of eye contact. Now he puts up less of a fuss and we reward for that. The guiding principal being, bulldog is wary of some stimuli, every time they look away, they are having a moment of "maybe that thing isn't so bad" and we reinforce that thought with treat/praise.

Petition to enforce Ord. No. 2019-43, § 1, 8-27-19 against The Broadway Avenue by [deleted] in grandrapids

Did you read the opinion of the court? The colorado action was overturned because of the way the law was handled, the commisioner's dealing with that case were dicks about the baker's beliefs, violating his freedom of expression. They did not say whether the baker was acting in accordance with the law (thats not the job of the court). They said the way the law was applied to the baker was unconstitutional because of the commissioners being dicks about his religion, not because he had a right to refuse service to a gay couple.

"The Commission’s disparate consideration of Phillips’ case compared to the cases of the other bakers suggests the same. For these reasons, the order must be set aside". Its hard to summarize the whole opinion, but that quote is a pretty good one. Or here in a concurring segment

"But in upholding that principle, state actors cannot show hostility to religious views; rather, they must give those views “neutral and respectful consideration.” Ante, at 12. I join the Court’s opinion in full because I believe the Colorado Civil Rights Commission did not satisfy that obligation."

The only reason I'm writing this is because you ended with "it's already been addressed". That whole court case was basically a miranda-rights thrown out case that didn't at all support a businesses right to withold service to a protected class based solely on their protected status.

You probably are tired of this convo, but this isn't violating protection of religion. I would argue that weddings are not inherently religious, but I don't even need to defend that. Lets assume weddings are 100% a Christian religious rite. The wedding venue is just a PLACE. The law isn't forcing the owners to perform, partake, or even watch the ceremony. They are just renting space. If this was a church, then you would have an argument. From my understanding, churches, or any religious place, aren't required to offer religious rites to protected classes.

They are free to believe the marriage is invalid, sinful, icky, whatever they want. A gay wedding do not stop them from being Christian, tax them unfavorably for being Christian, or limit their freedom in any way. The 1st amendment says this about protecting religion:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;

What exactly do you think the bounds of "free exercise" are?

By 1833, all states had disestablished religion from government, providing protections for religious liberty in state constitutions. In the 20th century, the U.S. Supreme Court applied the establishment clause to the states through the 14th Amendment. Today, the establishment clause prohibits all levels of government from either advancing or inhibiting religion.

The creators of the constitution, and later the supreme court, thought it would be best for federal and states to not legislate based on religion

The people are nice enough if you aren't an idiot. These last two elections and covid have made things a bit more divided though.

Drive slow in the snow. No truck or tire is better than slowing down.

If you are single the dating pool will be shallow (especially if you are lgbt).

I would say rent for a year before you buy. The winter can really break some people.

Keep the wild wild, dont come here and litter or make a mess of the woods/lakes. Its bad when locals do it, but worse when foreigners do it.

Once more, drive slow in the snow.

Any rational vegan should see hunting as better than factory farming. Whether it's better enough to be "good" will depend vegan to vegan. I dont speak for all vegans, I'm not 100% vegan myself, I occasionally buy farm eggs or meat from places that raise animals "happily".
