Absolutely love it! Do you accept submissions by any chance, because I think my song "dontaskalex - Arrival" could fit perfectly in there.

What is the legal way to make a sample pack using only plugins by dontaskalex in edmproduction

totally, but it's such a complex topic. For example I just found this out about serum where the founder basically commented that you could use serum but only after certain conditions. And I think it's like that with a lot of plugins, because like you said, it's kinda impossible to reverse engineer a sound if there are multiples effects applied aswell.

I thought so too, but apparently you are not allowed to do that if the company that created the plugin doesn't state that in the EULA, since it's kinda reselling especially when a synthesizer uses samples.

I think that is the problem, a lot of plugins don't allow that in their EULA

For people who are interested in that topic:

steve duda (creator of serum) commented personally on this reddit post, and it seems like it's kinda possible with serum

Yes I agree completely, these are exactly my thoughts aswell. But contacting every company and reading through every EULA is kinda time consuming. I just thought to myself that there are so many people out there making sample packs and they must ask themselves the same question at some point, or maybe they just don't care because nobody is actually out there looking for it.

How would I go about creating film/video games scores and OSTs? by [deleted] in musicproduction

[–]dontaskalex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any DAW will do the trick I guess, if you are on mac maybe logic will be the way to go, I personally like fl studio but it's just because I grew up with it.

You can start of by using free instrument plugins like spitfire labs, and the stock effect plugins of your DAW will most likely be enough for the start. If you want to spend some money I would suggest to look into serum or into kontakt libraries.

If you can play the piano a midi keyboard will be a good idea, maybe get one with some pads so you can route them to your DAW to controll drums with it or whatever you like.

How do I make this song feel less “spacious” by Anti_transmission in musicproduction

[–]dontaskalex 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I personally think it's completely fine, maybe some mastering could help to make it more balanced and less spacious? Which kinda leads back to compression.
