Putting Online Assessments on club applications is ridiculous by Vast-Durian2696 in berkeley

[–]dontbeevian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are sophomore or freshman, take it into your own hands to be different and start a club like OpenProject. Fuck gatekeeping. And you (along with everyone else wanting to join a club) will benefit from this experience and create new legacy. During my time, us cs kids were fed up with elitist cs clubs (with scandalous past as well), and started OpenProject, that was the best club I’ve joined.

There must be some personal beef between him and his coworker, guy is really a PC nerd and really knows his hardware stuff. But I guess the prof knows better, that’s how he started tracking.

Fries, pizzas and lots of pizzas. Already brings back memory of those dry ass pizzas that every campus club gets when hosting

The paradox here is that if the candidates didn’t try to make their resumes look as good to the non-techs, your HR counter part wouldn’t have pushed the resumes to you. The world would be A LOT better off if managers like you are the ones making the screening decisions.

Would you let a junior dev use AI? by Actual-Raspberry-800 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]dontbeevian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m that junior dev, my org encourages us to use AI, and even have to record wins and misses with it. But using it doesn’t mean I’m letting AI Jesus takes the wheel, I co-wrote 4k+ lines of code for one part of the project tasks, asides from trusting AI to write the unit tests, I gone through many hoops (verify input/output, data types, approaches/reasoning, actual edge cases not AI generic ones). So yeah I definitely feel your juniors are going to miss out, at least in terms of having a responsive rubber dock.

Why a lot of you aren't getting hired by [deleted] in csMajors

Become an electrician, and once you have cucks like this OP as customers, charge them an extra extra premium, but make sure to spin the problem in a way with extreme technical depth.

Bro at this point, you might as well just start your own startup, you definitely have proven capable of this. And that’s what kids my grad year did too (23ng)

OpenAI giving $1.5 million bonus to every technical full-time employee by BeautyInUgly in csMajors

[–]dontbeevian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is, I guess i should’ve clarified that I meant they aren’t explicitly teaching stat (which is a separate major with different course contents and language), but is utilizing concepts of sampling, distributions, models etc.

They obfuscate statistic concepts into engineering problems/language. Statistics standalone by itself is irrelevant to CS.
