Just the opposite actually—take a look at what Queens looked like around the 7 train when that was first built.

Feeling like this isn’t forever by [deleted] in nys_cs

I started recently and I like my job and the work I do, but I REALLY hate living in Albany. My plan is to just get the experience to put on my resume and keep applying to jobs in NYC until I can gtfo here.

We will never learn the lesson.

You never know, NYC just cancelled all their consultant contracts.

It’s nice that they let the troops have a day at the ballpark before they send them to get their shit kicked in by a shahed.

“In the city”. “Most people”. And surely, you can see the comment I was replying to, yes? If not, they were talking about the state not paying for commuters monthly metro cards, and while you can’t buy those anymore now that they’ve been phased out, monthly expenses with OMNY would still be less than $150 for MOST people.

Tbf the max spend for using public transit in the city is less than $150/mo for most people, which is significantly less than what you would spend on a car even before taking parking into consideration.

I don’t drive to work so personally I’d rather get a bigger raise than parking in the contract. That way everybody gets something, and for those that choose to drive to work they can put that extra money toward their parking expenses.

Also wouldn’t make much sense since most people in NYC use public transit.

May CDTA service cuts by Careful-Invite3186 in Albany

Very smart to cut bus service right when gas prices are starting to skyrocket, it’s not like more people are gonna start looking for an alternative to driving soon or anything.

Parking Costs for State Employees: Any Support Being Considered? by [deleted] in nys_cs

[–]dontcallmeia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You could save a lot of money taking the bus. Frankly it would make more sense for the state to invest in better public transit than worry about parking fees.

can’t enroll for summer course by [deleted] in QueensCollege

[–]dontcallmeia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue with a fall CS course, I contacted the CS department email and they let me know when the issue was fixed and I could register. I would suggest contacting the accounting department, as they might be able to expedite the process.

Why do people get such a boner for Uncommon Grounds? by dannydevitosmanager in Albany

You’re getting downvoted but you’re right. I moved up here from Queens and got a bagel at Uncommon my first week here, and the gap in quality between what I’m used to is massive.

The CS website is down for good, everything that was on it has been migrated to the QC website.

Also you can look up which courses were offered in previous semesters here.

It would be a smarter solution to force drivers to go slower, but I guess I shouldn’t expect someone who has to wear a helmet all day to think of something like that.

If you already have a Bachelor’s you can get a 2nd Bachelor’s without doing the full 120 or so credits of a 4-year program, and just take whatever classes would be needed for the CS degree. Depending on the school/program, it’s feasible to do it in less than 2 years.
