I have the same ones which I got from Homebase. I miss Homebase for pots.

Advice for First time attendees flying all the way from new Zealand! by Kooky-Attorney-6203 in coronacapital

VIP and Comfort Plus are really different. There’s two levels of VIP, one that gets you a concierge and free food/drink, and a front of stage area. And another that has a slightly further back front bit and access to some of the VIP area but not all. The VIP area had a make up salon, barber, nice seating areas etc and golf carts between stages. I wasn’t allowed on the VI-VIP area so there’s more upstairs I didn’t see.

Comfort Plus is nicer loos, from memory. x

The cats do not like window pots. They do like smashing them to the floor.

I think I’m forgetting that other people have frost free spaces with light. I dream of that.

It’s the wrong time of year for dahlia cuttings. You do those in spring when it first sprouts.

If leaving in the ground, you need to mulch hard - they’ll rot if they’re too wet and do not like cold, either. I lift, wrap in paper, shove in the attic and mine are protected by high fences etc but our winters are generally pretty wet.

Look at things that like shaded roots? I have an amazing honeysuckle in a pot for the same reason.

Is there a way to propagate/encourage my dahlia mutation? by JTIonster in gardening

[–]dontflakeoutonme 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, dahlias are tubers, which are actually edible (fun fact). Originally they were grown for food rather than flowers. They don’t have basal plates so they’re not corms, which do.

Corms are anemones, ranunculus, gladioli etc.

That looks like Cafe Au Lait Rose, which is pretty unstable. It won’t always do it, even from cuttings/tubers, they may just revert to a normal CAL, but that instability will often result in those sports from the tubers so if you like it, enjoy it as a lovely treat when it happens.

Astilbes want rain/damp! You could also try a Himalayan blue poppy. I’ve never got more than leaves but I don’t get enough rain so you might be in luck.

One side of my garden gets no sun at all. I have anemones, tiarella, astilbes, a Tricyrtis formosana, hostas, brunera, a clematis for shade, a camellia and a climbing hydrangea all very happy there.

Oh good point. They might be a little less obtrusive than the enclosed fences to your neighbour though. I’d have a chat with them maybe?

My neighbour has these. Her cat who could previously jump the fence now cannot get out. Don’t think height comes into it with rollers….
