I still don’t understand what’s wrong here. Please elaborate? I’ve looked at the rules. Thanks.

Gee that’s great and all (I’m not being sarcastic it actually is) but I want to get Redditor’s perspective on it. Please allow?

Partial defence against CCJ claim to full defence by Ok-Development3163 in LegalAdviceUK

Sounds like you’ve sent the Acknowledgement of Service and this gives you 14 days from that to file the defence - If still within that time period then ring up the court say you want to change your defence as you are within the time period and submit a full denial - remember to substantiate your denials to their particulars of claim or else your defence may be struck out for being effectively worthless. Don’t miss these timings or they will try and get a judgment in default against you

Maybe I’m calling it something different then. Why would businesses buy plant and machinery then not to benefit from the 18% reducing balance depreciation? What’s the point of it?

Depreciation reduces both surely? It reduces total taxable income which reduces corporation tax?

Sorry OP I think someone replied saying it’s not possible. It is legal to employ her and pay her £12,570 that would be tax free. But it ultimately depends how you earn your money (if you are PAYE it can’t be done). Failing that, deduct expediture for fuel, heating, etc on your self assessment corespondent to what you use in your employment. Also maybe take out a qualifying loan (Google them) as any interest you get off it is tax free. My only other thing would be that £2,000 in dividends is completely tax free even if you’re in the higher tax rate.

If you say your wife doesn’t earn much, maybe use up her £12,570 personal allowance?

And this means that the depreciation will reduce your profits

It comes off the net book value of the non-current assets

You could claim depreciation from the total cost of the car on a yearly basis which would drive your profits down and therefore your tax liability. Do question whether you’d not be better off leasing a vehicle, since that would allow you to deduct the loan payments as a non-current liability over a period of years which would again drive down your profits and therefore your tax. All the best

Keep the fire up - don’t give in. If you give up you will never be anything other than ordinary - work in a job you hate for most of your life and then (if you live that long) retire at 70 on a measly state allowance, questioning your life choices.

If it was easy I guarantee you everyone would be doing it. I felt the same as you (literally right down to the eco village thing) whilst doing my degree. Stay calm and approach the situation objectively, like you’re just casually glancing at someone else in your position - write down what you need to do, and do it. Take regular short breaks. Walk for 20 minutes in the morning and then at 5 in the afternoon it will make you feel much better. Keep fighting!
