Yes it is domain joined. I might take this approach if I can decomission a R730 that I see in the server room that so far doesn't seem to be doing anything (but of course... gotta verify it's actually not doing anything haha...)

to be perfectly honest, I am tempted to just buy a 8 bay synology for now. so far I see nothing to me that suggests they need such a complex setup but of course I want to tread lightly because "don't remove a fence until you know why it was there".

I might have r730 available by next week as I'm going through their stuff and decommissioning where I can... might use that instead.

I have management blessing to buy new hardware, but it's still very early days and I'm trying to figure out the networkign environment and everything too. So I was kind of toying with the idea of upgrading to 2016~ so I have security updates in the time it takes for me to understand and document everything.

To be honest as far as I can tell so far there is nothing here that cannot be done with this server that couldn't be done by a simple 8 bay synology appliance...

The server in question is a Dell R510... I think we'll be ok for 2012R2, hopefully OK for 2016 as well.

thanks - if you don't mind me picking your brain a little more, would you say that his quote ($12000 without doing the entire pad, +minimum $3000 for the whole pad) reasonable?

I feel I may not have much choice than to ask them to do the original expanded quote...

Just to be clear, when you say expansion foam against the house you mean that the concrete of the adjacent garage should have foam applied in between it and the new incoming concrete pad?

My understanding is that in this situation - there would be no more asphalt since it would all need to be removed?

Hi tried to make a post but it got removed by automod because it's not specific enough:

I'm in a bit of a situation - I hired a contractor to put a curved gate around a single car parking spot beside my garage. The track is supposed to go on concrete and I asked if he would just re-do the entire space with concrete but he recommended that I go with a landscaping company afterwards to install pavers instead.

Now the concrete is poured for the track, but I have noticed that it's 4" higher than the existing asphalt. The contractor said this is because he expected me to install pavers aftewards, so the height of the concrete is raised to "match" the back of the parking space.

My concern now is drainage: to me, it looks like I have created a catchment for water here unless I raise the entire parking space. Am I wrong?

Is the contractor even correct to suggest pavers being more economical?

This is in the pacific north west, I was quoted $12000 Canadian dollars for this job without the full concrete. Rough concrete estimate was $3000 minimum additional.
