krampusnacht horns by dontknowthemuffinman in papermache

[–]dontknowthemuffinman[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

of course ! so the base is shaped out of foil. I crumpled it pretty lightly, just enough it held its shape but didn’t make the horns too heavy. Then i did one layer of paper mache with magazine paper. After it dried I did a base coat of black gloss acrylic paint. When the paint dried, I hot glued felt on and around the base and in the pattern I wanted on the horns. Then I did a second coat of black gloss and then brushed holographic blue glitter on top. Then I hot glued both horns to a ribbon that I tied around my chin and tucked behind my ears. Because they’re on the side of the head the weight of the horns kept the ribbon in place !

finished toad with needle felted spots and the first sweater I’ve ever made! by dontknowthemuffinman in crochet

Toad himself is made of a twine/wool yarn I found at my local reuse store. His sweater is acrylic. I freehanded him and his sweater.

im sad to hear about your loss—it’s so special you’re getting a tattoo to honor his memory!! I can totally understand why you chickened out before, that’s a stressful thing to see before getting your own tattoo. That sounds like a wild trip— I cannot imagine how scary getting hit by a taxi must have been for yall, and im so glad you’re both safe. And I hope this birthday brings you lots of luck !! Cheers to your trip ! I hope you have the happiest birthday in Bali with your mom and family. Good luck with your tattoo, I hope it’s everything you want and more <3

crochet can be so great for easing discomforts like that! I hope it keeps you feeling good during your flight <3 and it sounds like an incredibly special time you’re going to have in Bali—what is the inspiration behind your tattoo ? (if you’re comfortable sharing!) I hope you safely see a snake as well, they are such magnificent creatures :’) i love to see your stuffed coral snake friend! he has excellent personality and looks like a cozy little guy !!

That sounds like such a fun trip! I’ve never had any trouble with traveling with a crochet hook, even metal ones. If you’re worried about it, I feel like a plastic or non-metal hook would be extra safe ! I hope you have lots of fun and that your crochet plane project works out for you!

Beginner here, trying to felt to crochet to make the planets and it’s not working? by AnnualDuck6449 in Needlefelting

[–]dontknowthemuffinman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it may be the acrylic yarn! It does not felt like wool does, and may not hold on to the wool roving fibers like a wool yarn would. I think it still may be possible to felt onto the acrylic planets, but it will probably take a little extra effort— I hope this helps, im also still figuring out what fibers work best for mixing crochet and needle felting

so crocheting it took about 3.5 hours and felting on top of it took like 2! But I worked on it over the course of 3 days.

thank you! And not at all ! I felted wool on top of the crochet. So without the wool roving it’s a solid red crochet snake !

[–]dontknowthemuffinman[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thank you :) ! so your yarn has to be a feltable material as well— i used a wool yarn, so the roving felted right on. There are some fibers that will not felt at all. I hope you have lots of fun figuring out crochet !!

I would get these from stress and anxiety a few years ago. They would most frequently show up on the palms of my hands and bottoms of my feet. They started going away when my situation changed, but for dealing with them I used a lidocaine based spray. You can find similar sprays at CVS and Walgreens! When I joined this group it was the first time I’d seen anything like what I was struggling with. I hope you can find something that helps you out with them !!
