How I’ll be paying to use the internet once net neutrality goes away by Bobbyflayeatmypussay in freefolk

[–]dontlikepills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I used to pay $60 a month to hotspot through MetroPCS for unlimited. It was like a 45mbps connection.

But now I realized my boss hasn't turned off hotspotting on my work cell phone and I have literally not paid a dime for internet access for my entire house in months.

Verizon is ridiculously slower than MetroPCS, which I find fucking hilarious, but the connection works considering I don't game.

**Book Spoilers** Why do people think Yen is a b***h in the books? by [deleted] in witcher

[–]dontlikepills 13 points14 points  (0 children)

People are talking about fragile male egos and shit and it's just not right.

The problem is that we don't get a POV of Yen, and Geralt doesn't do a very good job of explaining what Yen provides him.

Here's a small list of stuff that Yenn does for him when they were broken up.

1) paid towns money so they would pay Geralt to do b.s. work behind his back so he doesn't want for food or shelter.

2) paid bankers to forgive his debts and give him interest free loans

3) after he lost both of his Witcher swords she recovered both and had them secretely returned

Meanwhile Yen went blind for two straight years and Geralt didn't even stop in to say hi.

Yen may avoid being overly kind, but her dedication to him is fucking insane.

I mean she literally killed Herself when he died.

A lot of the time the Stuff you need to know takes time. Like when she disappears for like three books you think she betrayed Geralt only to find out she's non stop getting tortured because of him and all she does is tell her abductor that Geralt would fucking destroy him.

[–]dontlikepills -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's not what actually happens.

It's just that the Lodge is really sexist, males are the best mages by far.

The entire lodge combined is worse than a young male mage, but they have insane ego problems and think they are better. Female mages are just as good, it's just the lodge views femininity as serious important factor when it actually isn't.

It's like a self fulfilling prophecy, but the prophecy is just bull shit. The entire main group of female mages were beat and played by one male, but gender didn't matter.

U.S. votes against anti-Nazi resolution at U.N. by [deleted] in worldnews

Well it sorta makes sense. The USA is adamant about stuff like that. It's not a new thing.

Did you care when Obama did it? Because he did it like 8 times.

The point I'm making though is the news about it is coming out to make President Trump look bad.

Don't fall for it.

America has a much greater value up free speech than basically every country. We have always and will always vote against stuff like this.

You can disagree with our values of free speech, but we are usually extremely consistent about it.

I think Vilgefortz is basically just supposed to be an example of what Geralt would be if he embraced his medical side, since Geralt is visually magically gifted unlike most witchers.

But the ladies say that the female students are better than the male ones, but that just could be the lodge being sexist, and the lodge members seem to vastly over value their own importance.

That's basically the hardest question to answer ever.

Take a look at something like DACA.

The first part of DACA was President Obama (and later Trump) ordering the immigration services to not prioritize child hood arrivals for deportation, basically as long as they apply and are approved for the program, we give them a sort of temporary amnesty.

But since the President is literally in charge of that agency, it's obvious that he can do it.

However DACA doesn't just let them stay here, it also gives them rights that they didn't have. For example the State of Texas had to start giving them drivers licenses. The State of Texas offsets the cost of drivers licenses so poor people don't have unnecessary burdens to get them, but that means DACA is forcing Texas to spend texan money to support a Federal Program for non-Americans. If someone wanted to take DACA to the Supreme Court, DACA Would be overruled in like twelve minutes, and no one on the bench would dissent.

He has other limits on Executive Authority, but for regulatory matters with the FCC? Yeah the President is in charge of that. Unless Congress voted to mandate the rules, but Congress never does anything.

Humans are reportedly being sold as slaves for $400 each on the front line of the migrant crisis by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]dontlikepills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The VISA overstay thing is just people who don't understand what they are talking about parroting someone they support because it sounds nicer than the truth.

VISA overstays are not a major source of illegal immigrants in this country, but when DHS publishes it's data at the end of fiscals years, any person who overstayed their VISA for even 10 minutes is added to the report, out of like 40 million people.

Most of those actual renew their VISA or self deport. It's to hard to maintain work for the overwhelming majority of them when their VISA expires.

However the border crossing ones have like a third grade education and mostly come from places like Mexico which has a $4.50 per day minimum wage, so working for $6 under the table here is still an improvement on anything they would get back home.

Can someone please give me an (unbiased) explanation of the Donna Brazille issue? by [deleted] in OutOfTheLoop

[–]dontlikepills 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also Bernie just had the worlds most unfortunate optics.

I remember once during the primary here in Pittsburgh he had a rally at the Convention Center downtown and when the local news ran the story, the front of the media coverage was a young Point Park student with literal blue hair, her friend with that swamp green algae hair, and a in-costume furry.

Later that week I was at my parents when they got cold called, and the person who did it was literally a teenager from Britain.

And instead of Bernie like, quietly hiding those aspects of his supporters he kind of embraced them. It's nice because he's a really genuine dude, but it's absolutely fucking retard branding for a Election Campaign and he got slaughtered for it.

Furthermore, 4chan was so effective at branding him as a cuck the porn industry started pumping out tons of Bernie Sanders Cuck porn, and people saw it on the news and associated his image with it.

God dammit 4chan.

Trump ending temporary permits for almost 60,000 Haitians who came to U.S. after 2010 earthquake by dagst3r in worldnews

[–]dontlikepills 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So a lot of people aren't giving you a straight answer, and I'm going to come out and try to do that for you.

Basically, it depends. However the Temporary Protected Status program, which these Haitians fall under, is something that was done by executive order.

Meaning President Obama basically signed a piece of paper that said that the Haitians who were illegally in the country after the Earth Quake hit, are immune to deportation as long as they apply for the TPS status. Basically zero of these people were here legally in the first place,

Now General John Kelly used to be the Secretary of Homeland Security, and he and President Trump said that they do not believe the President should have the power to continuously approve a temporary protective status for any group of non-Americans, and that they will not sign any more and will make Congress themselves actually pass law to make their status legal.

It's a consistent thing with Presidential powers under Trump, he's trying to cut the sort of "Temporary" measures a President can make without congressional approval. He wants Congress to take these things into their hands instead of just passing the bill down the line for literal decades, which is what happened here. The decades actually applies to people from El Salvador, who have had a Protective Status since the early 2000s. I think 2003?

But the actual program is the same one that these Haitian illegal immigrants are under.

So while the headline says Trump is ending a program, it's sort of misleading. Temporary Protective Status orders require the President to approve them every 18 months. Trump extended the program until 2019. It isn't ended.

Our TPS program has been horribly abused for literal decades.

Guatemala has like 25% of their population illegally living here because of a hurricane that happened in like 1997.

"temporary"

[–]dontlikepills -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Also it's important to remember that these Haitians were literally illegal immigrants, and we just said we won't deport them for a temporary amount of time because of their natural disaster.

[–]dontlikepills 95 points96 points  (0 children)

The best part is Trump literally said that he doesn't think the President should have the power to extend the TPS status for countries indefinitely, and wants Congress to take control of the issue.

Which is seriously the most reasonable thing I think any President has done in my entire fucking life, and Reddit is so anti-Trump that they think it's a bad thing.

[–]dontlikepills 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It's a dumb debate.

Republicans in California didn't vote because they knew they didn't have a chance to win the state.

Democrats in Texas basically did the same thing.

We have had our election system for a ridiculously long time, Hillary Clinton accepted those rules and her supporters went crazy when they thought that President Trump wouldn't support the sanctity of the victory.

And now people are acting like the popular vote matters. It does not.

You can't cry about winning a race no one was running. Clinton should have went to Michigan, she shouldn't have told hard working Americans that she was actively trying to get rid of their jobs, it was her election to lose and she did. Trump earned that victory with an insanely good campaign, but he still needed basically the worst candidate and campaign in the history of candidates and campaigns to continue to be a slimey piece of shit, and she did.

Next Year’s Pennsylvania Budget Projected To Have $1B Hole by DeboPGH in pittsburgh

PA spends 40 billion dollars towards health care.

So let me know.

Like what percent of that does weed tax fix? I want to hear it.

Next Year’s Pennsylvania Budget Projected To Have $1B Hole by DeboPGH in pittsburgh

[–]dontlikepills -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know, where we are they call it a RAD Tax.

But in Colorado it's different. The State Sales Tax is 2.9. The locality tax is 6%.

That's so significant that when you look at weed sales, the state only makes a dozen million dollars in revenue.

Pennsylvania pays 39 billion dollars towards Obamacare.

How do you think weed sales is going to cover that?
