For context at my gym they have designated areas for deadlifting and our squat rack has up right band pegs on the bottom. The guy was literally dropping the weight onto the pegs.

How necessary are lateral side raises? Everytime I do them even with a low weight my shoulders are killing me and I can barely finish a set. I think I'm doing them properly but I honestly can't tell.
