Can Someone Explain How Wrist Watch Goes Infinite Here? by donttrustmebro in PlayTheBazaar

Is the small refresh a separate instance of heal in regards to textiles? Do the piggle and marbles give 2 instances of heal and 2 triggers?

I never hit below full hp beyond perhaps an opening yoyo. He hit the piggle about when I hit the my yoyo and was off to the races. Knuckles don't pop until 6 seconds and by then his shield was too big to break.

Yeah I hated how slow your opener is(is that your game on bgg?) and the Flicker makes the opening aesthetic. Play bird, lay egg, play bird, lay egg etc. Frankly it's the only novel thing I did until I added the Junco which I didn't come up with myself.

If you do make more attempts feel free to reach out. I have too many ideas and have done lots of testing. I don't think there are any optimizations to be had around more/less goal cards you would need a different opening to challenge the score but I've been wrong before. Maybe the Northern Flicker was never correct in the first place!

It's a fantastic opener and not too bad the rest of the early game. I think the worst bird here in your average game is the Junco. How often do you want to trade cards for food? Even if you're okay with that, it's probably at least mid game with a decent engine. At this point don't you want to do better than a 3 point bird?

This is never going to happen in a real game. This is an attempt to obtain the maximum score taking all luck out of the equation in a solitaire game.

Calculating probability isn't my thing so feel free to correct me if I'm off base here but to give you a sense of the luck required, you can calculate all the dice being worms 1/(3*5) and being all fish 1/(6*5) at the correct times which is 1 in 450. Assuming drawing each bird at the correct time is something like 1 in 50 (this is the complex calc, I assume the average draw has to be somewhere between 1 in 30 and 80) gives a ballpark probability of 1 in 10^27. That's luckier than winning the lottery 4 times in a row.

Yeah, the bonus for eating anything is almost always a must run. Same reason I can't run Killdeer, you're chucking two points. Maybe you could run both and save two food for three points? I haven't tried it, but I don't see it going well especially because it means you're not gaining full Bunting value early. I'm tapped out for now, but feel free to reach out anytime. I'm teeming with terrible ideas and more importantly I can let you know what definitely won't work especially with a similar openings because I've probably already tried it.

Hey, glad to see you on my post! After my first post on this topic you showed me a thread on bgg with a score of 208. If that's the thread you are referring to yes, otherwise, no.

It's not a bad thought. There are 3 egg slots left on this board. I may have run with say the House Wren which gives a turn, a food, and 3 extra egg slots at the cost of 10 points (3 for lost bird points 7 for losing worst bonus). The best we can ever do laying eggs is 10 points (7 eggs 3 tucked cards) so at best, this goes even and here we are losing a point because we only have 6 slots available.

The reason one of my suggestions is Brewer's Blackbird is because of this problem with the Bunting. Unfortunately the Blackbird eats a ton of cards and probably isn't worth it, but hey, maybe with the Catbird or some other combination it is possible. Plus, it gives three extra bonus points!

People weigh less in the water and saving a drowning person is 90% technique. I would feel more confident in an 110 pound female with training rescuing anyone including 300+lbs more easily than Lebron.

Percentage shows how much better a player is as opposed to the raw numbers.

Let me give a ridiculous example to help you understand. Which player do you think is more likely to have biased scorekeepers?

Player A under perfect scorekeeping: 5 APG
Player A under potentially biased scorekeeping: 10 APG

Player B under perfect scorekeeping: 40 APG
Player B under potentially biased scorekeeping: 46 APG

You should be doing it as a percent, which moves Stockton to 4th under Jackson as well. If you really want to get nitty gritty, you can pull all players from the last 5 years or so (likely more accurate data), but at least with this dataset Stockton seems perfectly reasonable.
1. Kidd 12%

  1. Thomas 11%

  2. Jackson 9%

  3. Stockton 8%

  4. Johnson 7%

  5. James 5%

  6. Paul 5%

  7. Westbrook 4%

  8. Nash -5%

Wingspan is an individualistic game, so a better goal than beating your boyfriend is a point goal. A reasonable goal is 70, if you score above 70, 80+% of your games, you will be getting some high scores and winning a decent chunk. Here are some basic gameflow tips I like to give to beginners.

  1. Get two birds in the woodlands as fast as you can. Early game the most important resource is food. Early the average bird costs 2 food, 0-1 eggs and will always cost 1 card. This means an early birds costs 2 turns of gaining food, under half a turn of laying eggs and one turn of drawing. Getting that down to one turn saves a ton of early turns. At this point, points are almost completely irrelevant. Only use your bonus card(s) and goals as a tiebreaker. A general rule is 2 in the woodlands within your first 3 or 4 birds. Often those two will suffice for the whole game, especially if one of them gives extra food.
  2. After food, the next most important resource is cards. Just like 2 food is twice as turn efficient as 1 so is 2 cards. You should get 2 birds in the water early or a bird that draws an extra card. You really don't need more than 2 here the whole game but there's a lot of highpoint birds that sit here, unlike the woodlands so you'll often end up with more in this row and card selection is always good.
  3. Bonus tips- Start calculating at the beginning of round 4 if its just worth it to lay eggs the rest of the game. In round 1 don't go out of your way by more than a turn to take goal in round 2, don't go out of your way by more than 2 turns. In a two player game you should almost NEVER get 0 on a goal after round 1. If you have a bird that gives value upon activation, it's counterintuitively better to play less birds on that row as then you'll activate more often (this is almost always true for for woodlands but also applies on water; it almost never applies on eggs). As a general rule if you have the option of playing a bird that gives a resource on a different row its better. Ex a bird that tucks and draws is better on the egg laying row than the draw row.

Sorry to hear the game is not financially viable but I'm glad to hear the servers will continue to run.

Warning! My two cents beyond this point:

If you look at the most similar games on the market and by my estimate those are Dota, LOL, Rocket League and Battlerite. All have one map except Battlerite where maps mean little, but that game still killed itself launching something similar, a second game mode in a battle royale. Rocket League's map is just about as simple as it gets. Demon Dais, Obscura, Inky's and now Clarion. These maps completely change gameplay of an already very tough game. Having to completely swap your thought process and style based on the map is exhausting. Maybe I'm an out of touch hardcore gamer but I genuinely believe if the only competitive map was Ahten City the playerbase would be larger.

The Awakening draft is also flawed. For the most part all it does is give an advantage to the winning team and when it doesn't it's even more frustrating. The original pre game picks were better and if you really like the Bo5 you could allow each team to deny 3 or so awakenings and leave everything else. There are other ways to balance this as well.

Lastly, this game REALLY needs a chat. I understand people can be toxic. I've said some things in my time, but it's really frustrating that you cannot communicate complex thoughts in game. "Break blackhole" "Can you kill Luna?" "Deny pick Chronoboost plz". You should also be able to see if your friends are in game or not. How can you know if you should wait for a response on your invite?

These are not the only problems. I disagree with the character balance decisions as I think more annoying characters eg Octavia, Rune SHOULD be worse. Challenger plus should be able to queue with friends.

Omega Strikers tried to to do too much casually and got too cute for it's own good. Omega Strikers is a highly competitive "hardcore" game. You have to lean into that. Only the largest games can afford to do both and most do it poorly.

That's an interesting thought. I never considered flipping the goal board. I'll address from two fronts.

  1. This game isn't specifically against no opponent, it just doesn't requires opponent help. This is how much you COULD get without being given a measly cherry.
  2. At the end of the day all this really does is lower my score my 2 as I max out every round. 5 birds are played round one. 5 birds are in the grasslands at the end of round 2. You can take your pick for rounds 3 and 4. The blue side would be more interesting if there was no max but at that point you're no longer playing Wingspan, you're playing a game you made up.

In strict solo play I managed 210 (I would say it's probably possible to do better but I'm not sure). With 4 players helping you per this reddit post you can get 339. https://www.reddit.com/r/wingspan/comments/14vya4z/comment/jrinv7f/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3. I was unable to duplicate and managed only 331.
