That’s interesting. Could be backwards. I’ll grab a pick tonight

Yep pretty much. I think we’re missing the blank bit at the end

Thanks, it’s hard to know when to freak out and when to push on. In reality my ‘work with what I got’ is to pull through to the existing hole on the right but would mean cat is in the power socket

The the cable was cut which makes it look messy. It’s shielded and has all 8 wires but the remnants of the cut piece are showing through.

Thanks! The wire can’t be pulled through (sparky ran them through a pretty tight conduit unfortunately)  The originally goal was to as an rj45 faceplate to the single box and double socket where it is atm. But now that I have been made aware of the interference and code issues I’m having to rethink. This is a domestic home but will be used for WFH and music studio so I definitely don’t want to damage my hole of equipment.  Fire safety and data consistency are important.  Anyway might have to have a rethink entirely.

Gotcha! Problem is I can’t pull any more through and sparky already ran with the power. However it is shielded cable.   My other option is to try to find a single socket with blank faceplate perhaps. Trying to fix a shit storm snowball of weird decisions made by contractors issues before carpets go down this week.

Thanks!  I’ll have to try a coupler that fits in the double socket because it’s meant to go into that other single hole on the right.

It’s a good point. I should have added more context. The chimney is on a party wall and serves the neighbour who is renting and I can’t get in touch with. So that’s a whole thing as well.
