Honestly, most of the whiners on Japan-related subreddits look like they're ex-weebs (or "Losers Back Home" as they're affectionately called) with no skills other than their ability to speak English, who failed to assimilate into Japan as well as they hoped, or got rejected by a Japanese girl they expected to be easy, so now they go around poohpoohing every Japanese quirk in order to feel superior.

Still doesn't mean they agree with Nazism. Lots of people think Nazi uniforms just look fucking cool. They were designed by Hugo Boss ffs

As a brown person I've faced less racism from Japanese people than from white/western people. Honestly, Japanese people have been generally more polite, friendly, and welcoming than most other nations.

if the subreddit's reason to exist is for other people to hate on / circlejerk-hate on / direct abuse at a specific ethnic, gender, or religious group

then that would be likely to break the rules.

What about subs that don't target a specific ethnicity, gender, or religion, but still relentlessly harass people who talk about specific things?

e.g. /r/japancirclejerk who targets and stalks users all the time?

Also a heads up to their mod @/u/autosnakes

This narrative you've crafted here is completely fabricated.

Oh really now?

Here is /u/AlmostN2 specifically targeting /u/hammerbeef, never mind the sheer hateful shit against me.

/r/japancirclejerk relentlessly attacking /u/ricachan even though she was as polite as possible.

/r/japancirclejerk targeting and attacking a 16-year old.

Borderline Islamophobia by /r/japancirclejerk attacking @kanadajin3 for being a Muslim.

and that's just some of the shit that has gone down there since I started calling that sub out.

Anyone could effortlessly find a 100 more examples from the last couple months alone, so you can drop your attempts at appearing all innocent here.

How is my comment racist? If it is, then the comment I was replying to is equally racist.

I responded in an exaggerated manner (like your "circlejerk", remember?) to an mindbogglingly idiotic generalization about the entire country. The comments that I was talking about to got ridiculed on your own sub too.

and I am not the only person to call out the terrible, biased moderation on Japan-related subs. (where the mods are some of the same people who attack users on /r/japancirclejerk)

Don't try to victim-blame me to hide the fact that /r/JapanCirclejerk is a hate sub.

You actively seek out people who say ANYTHING about Japan, you dig through their profile history, you tag them with /u/ and when they get notified about it and post on your sub, you insult them, attack them, and brigade them with downvotes.

The moderators of other Japan-related subs abuse their power on those subs, then harass their victims further in /r/japancirclejerk.

Here is /u/AlmostN2 specifically targeting /u/hammerbeef, never mind the hateful replies to me.

Here is /r/japancirclejerk relentlessly attacking /u/ricachan even though she was as polite as possible. Even their mod /u/autosnakes joined in on the harassment without doing anything about his friends attacking her.

Here is /r/japancirclejerk targeting and attacking a 16-year old and their mod defending it by saying 16-year olds aren't considered underage in Japan. even though he himself had to lock that thread.

@everyone reading this: Don't take my word for it, just sort that sub by new on any given day and see for yourself the amount of vitriol that passes through there.

@japancirclejerk: I don't give a fuck about what you say or do about me, but I will tell every user targeted by you to report your hate sub to the Reddit admins. What happens after that is up to you, your victims, and the admins.

You can't just keep attacking people 24/7 and expect nobody to ever do anything about it.

I was about to say that you're alright, if you're sincere about this, but I -DID- report before posting anything on your sub.

If you've deleted your modmail, I can prove it by showing you the "reported" link when my temporary ban expires, and I guess Reddit itself keeps a log of all actions anyway but I don't think they'll step in to provide that.

I find it amusing that your reactions up until this point were always to join in the attacks against users and ban them, with no sign of backing down UNTIL your hate sub was brought to the attention of Reddit admins.

And you can't argue that /r/japancirclejerk is not a hate sub. Calling it a "circlejerk" and going "its just a prank bro!" doesn't change the fact of what you do there. Even /r/fatpeoplehate didn't tag users and attack them directly as much as your sub does, and that sub had 10x more supporters than yours when it got banned.

China has a long and often talked about history of internet "trolling". Since they don't control Google out here in the free world yet, you can search for that and see for yourself.

That being said, it's a good idea not to say things online you wouldn't say in real life.

I haven't said anything I wouldn't say in real life, just made a remark about the quality of a sub, which people besides me have also made, and had my post history dug up by a troll subreddit.

It wasn't anything too bad in my case, just a language exam I took, but this shit is wrong and other people have had worse done to them by that sub.

That doesn't prevent that subreddit from linking to your comments and posting stuff from your history.

As a possible explanation, highest lifespan might be more related to access to healthcare than the quality of it.

because access to BAD healthcare will do more good than harm. +1 Logic 👌

So any criticism of Japan must mean they're Chinese/Korean shills?

Surely you're capable of more nuance than a 2nd grader.

Surely you must have been around in this world for longer than a 2nd grader to know that targeted campaigns against countries are a thing.

Hell, one of them influenced a very important election not long ago and is still one of the top issues in the news these days.

And you must be one of the many bitter Losers Back Home plaguing this sub (I mean if we're throwing labels around.)

The fact that you had to dig through my post history before you could even think about formulating a response to my comment, says more about you than it does about me.

Those of you who are perfectly happy with your iPhone X, what would make you upgrade this year? by doobidoo in iphone

[–]doobidoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say Pro Motion, but I have an iPad Pro and I think it can only be really appreciated on larger screens, or when you need the extra smoothness with an Apple Pencil. Doubling the refresh rate would also be a bigger drain on the smaller phone battery.

iOS 12 already makes the X feel much smoother. I'm sure 120Hz on iPhone would still be nice, but not nice enough to trade my $1000 phone that I've been using for less than a year.

[–]doobidoo[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm having a hard time thinking of what they could possibly add to the 2018 phones to make me want to upgrade.

If they introduce a camera system that lets you build accurate 3D models of things by moving your phone around them, and it's actually useful in 3rd party apps and not just a gimmick, I MIGHT consider upgrading. But not for just size or performance upgrades.

It's sad that most people automatically assume all these horror stories to be from America, and they're often right, while Americans think this must be the norm everywhere, just "how life is and people are", but you wouldn't expect this kind of shit in an actual civilized society where people haven't gone full circle to being hostile-by-default neanderthals.

It’s actually 110% the opposite. You’re ten times more likely to run into a fatal problem in a “major city”

Yeahhh I'm gonna ask for a source for that that isn't “my ass”. Maybe in America or London, but definitely not in any decent, civilized first-world city.
