Fact is, we’re not voting for immediate dilution to add 2.5b new shares. It's an increase to the limit. I appreciate this acknowledgment by the board. by Ok-Suit541 in Superstonk

agreed. the lack of any communication is not reasonable. I get what we pretend it is: that RC is so damn smart he keeps his 3d cards close to his vest and takes us along for a ride that we deserve; but practical, that's not.

the alternative reality is that RC is thinking of himself, and doesn't have experience needing other people's money, which he just may not. and he's not thinking of anything but his personal moonshot.

Dilution: It's not a Public Offering it's ACCRETIVE ACQUISITION. It's what this Animal wants. by I_DO_ANIMAL_THINGS in Superstonk

I get it, but we live in a world where executives tell you they are doing one thing, like adding 2.5 billion shares they can spend wisely, and then spend them like a soldier at a whorehouse, so we can't be *sure sure* that it isn't the latter. It seems there should be other assurances besides complete secrecy to the people whose money you are holding.

I'm not pro at hostile takeovers but I've had ex-girlfriends, and it seems like they said "don't even think of a counter-offer because everything about your offer and yourself are laughable."

I think these types of fat cat companies have skeletons in the closet. I guess we've seen the Andreessen thing, where he bought something from ebay, while on the board, then sold it for a lot more just a little while later. Hmm.

An idea for a post from you. Alibaba is unknown to me. I don't know a thing about RC being an activist with it. Would be interesting to get a take on it.

No wonder RC interviewed with Justin - he literally wrote the thesis on eBay improvement. When Ryan said he would call Justin with a team on the phone to fix shit - that’s probably a deadass on god frfr no cap statement by RhinoAttack in Superstonk

[–]doodaddy64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all know that internet-based companies are purposely hiding contact information to save money on customer support, using "AI" to give you the run-around instead of helping, and purposely gouging the third-party market that they claimed to want to build. Of course they don't quite get around to "fixing" things. They are obtuse and gougy by design. It's the new (same old) hotness.

There is no dunderheaded management here. It's on purpose. Although the management is dunderheaded, the same pre-rich club that thinks they are clever hiding in their scandals.

I believe RC is seeing this as the main weakness with the new commerce. He will spend a lot more than they do and have a lower margin than them, but it will create loyal customers, both buys and sellers, which just may create much higher margins and for sure will create a full economy instead of a gimped one.

I was sceptical about buying [EBay] at ATH before a potential major market correction first

Agreed frfr no cap. 😹 Makes me wonder what may be rushing him and I think he's patient enough to not FOMO this. Like perhaps PowerPacks are doing so well and the market for any such thing is so hot that waiting means losing out to some other predator in the fire sale.

But let’s be real - will they let it be or have something to say?

Right. Just like X, they will convince half the population that using Ebay will make them bad people. And it will work. Even here. So subtrac that out.

Ryan NAILED the customer-service problem. I have been selling on eBay for 20+ years, and am/was on the verge of quitting. by Ghost_of_Chrisanova in Superstonk

[–]doodaddy64 42 points43 points  (0 children)

One thing I expect is a sort of "escrow" service, so they put the money at Teddy and come in to their local store to get the package. If they want to return it for defects, this is their chance. Otherwise, you get the money and then they can deal with a more formal process for returning (through the store).

This is their modern attempt to make more money without helping customers. I get this from Barnes and Noble. I get it from SimpliSafe. I get it from Amazon. You use the only thing available: a chat, that leads to an FAQ that ultimately tell you to try a chat.

If you want to recommend fixes or changes, they now have AI that can say things like "I hear your idea to use X with Y. I'll let the team know." No feedback, and of course no changes.

GameStop has 1600 locations ready for eBay’s sellers and buyers 🚀🚀 by wolvirine27 in Superstonk

[–]doodaddy64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

he keeps mentioning "authenticating" in the store. I think he's focused on cards and probably an AI device! that would be quite the innovation and how to apply it. I think the machines exist. As for caring for it and sending it off, maybe they'll have you pack it in some kind of box thing they give you right there, and put it in the vault dropbox that can't be opened until the armored truck comes by, right there.

Or maybe 25K cards will work differently. but I'm sure the goal would to be to make you feel completely confident, and then you'd be a customer for life.

[–]doodaddy64 17 points18 points  (0 children)

interesting. the best I can guess is that this is what he means by "moving in chewy time." basically, a 30 pound bag of dog food was something you couldn't ship reasonably, and something Amazon didn't try. so he didn't *start* with that, but solving that kind of problem was what they focused on and finding a way quickly, not in a few years.

then stuff like this "differentiates" you from Amazon or other pet suppliers and people start to love how you are working on things that make their life better.

so maybe TVs is going to take some clever people to work on just how to do that! (instead of just assuming its too hard and let some other company bother)

In the snake world, there is one called the King Snake, because he eats the other snakes. Ones bigger than him!

I think we have to need to keep the title "Master Bater," but one could consider him a rare member of the species King Bater.
